2 of the greatest heavyweight champ s of all time no argument s. If they faced each other 3 times, what's the end score? (Louis of the Braddock ft v Holmes of the Norton ft) (Louis of Schmeling 2 v Holmes of the Ali fight) (Louis of Jersey Joe 1 ft V Holmes of Spinks 1 ft) Gentlemen, howz it go?
Holmes looked insane v Leon Spinks I dont think Louis topped that performance v Braddock or Schmeling, however Norton caught Larry a lot and Louis was far better at landing his shots than Norton was, couldn`t tell anything about Holmes in the Ali fight because Ali had parkinson`s, Braddock wouldn`t have troubled that at all though, Louis looked better v Walcott than Holmes did v M.Spinks and Walcott was better than Michael, so I`m picking that Louis to beat `85 Holmes but Holmes having a 60/40 edge in the other two match up comparisons.
Probably this is the best choice, although I wouldn't rule out Holmes winnning 2nd fight and losing 1st fight either. 2-1 for Louis is the best scenario anyway.
Nobody if hes prime Actually let me edit this. I believe Frazier would have the best chance. It's a style thing
Pre-Schmeling Louis wins a tough fight SD the first time. Norton-Holmes kind of slaps him silly the first four rounds but Joe lands some pulverizing shots, and the ref nearly stops it in the 6th when Holmes' eyes are rolling up in his head after a crushing right. Louis continues stalking and his jab is actually getting in and messing up Holmes' rhythm. He staggers Larry again in the 10th round, and has won all the last five rounds. Holmes is aware of Joe's edge in points and starts punishing him with the jab, opening some distance between them (all to Holmes' benefit). But Larry is having trouble landing the right (though the uppercut shakes Joe's legs in the 12th). At the beginning of the 13th Louis rocks the hell out of him with another right hand, and then floors him with a freakily powerful combination. Larry gets up, tries to hold but finds himself trading...Louis' defense is a little down as he comes in for the kill and though Larry takes some ugly shots he gets a cracking right hand in (knocking the sweat off Louis' head) and an uppercut to finish the round. It was a really close call for Holmes. Louis and Holmes kind of take the 14th off, each a bit wary. Toward the end of the round, Holmes tries and lands a lead right which stops Louis' forward momentum. Louis lets go of a killer combination, most of the punches blocked but a right gets through and Holmes is having trouble getting to his stool at the end of the round. He was lucky the bell sounded. The fifteenth is all out, Holmes is doing his best to jab/right/smother Louis but Louis is still really strong while Larry is kind of waning. Holmes does some dancing toward the middle but Louis proves his power again, rocking Holmes until he goes flat footed. Louis accidentally walks into a left uppercut and is visibly shaken, but takes Holmes' avalanche of rights on his feet. The fight ends with Louis landing a monster right hand. Holmes looks saved at the bell. Ali Holmes outpoints post-Schmeling Louis in the second fight for a SD in his favor, moving almost constantly and relying heavily on the jab and hold. It works, but he is swoll up pretty good despite his fancy tactics. Louis hurts him several times in the fight, bad, but can't capitalize as the more ring-smart Holmes ties him up. A far less exciting fight, but Holmes's greatest victory. Witherspoon Holmes gets TKO'd in 10 by Billy Conn Louis. The first seven rounds are basically Larry's who seems at this point still in his prime; his jab is a punishing blow and Louis is looking clumsy, can't get his own jab going and combinations are practically non-existent. Holmes takes a break in the 8th while Louis steps it up, pursuing him more doggedly and getting some wicked body shots in, though he continues to seem incapable of landing significantly to the head. In the 9th round Holmes lets himself get too loose and gets floored by a precise right hand. He gets up shaking his head and looking bad, and from now til the end of the round it's the fight of the year, Holmes seems pissed and embarassed and throws the telephone book at Louis. It doesn't keep Joe off him, but does slow him down. Though Larry holds at the most opportune times, Louis still gets some rocking shots in. Holmes looks both a little tired and shell shocked at the end of the bell. Larry comes out for the 10th looking as though he could use a nap and Joe gives it to him, landing the overhand over Holmes' jab. Holmes attempts to draw him into the ropes for an uppercut but this is a critically bad idea: Joe unleashes his patented hailstorm combinations and Holmes is looking for a place to fall as the ref stops it.
Louis 2-1 or 3-zip. Across a series Holmes would perhaps get home once but Louis carried his power late so it's a sizable ask. Edit - Louis in the first two scenario's and a toss up in the third. Both were in slow motion in those fights.
(Louis of the Braddock ft v Holmes of the Norton ft) I think Louis was in really good shape against Braddock, in spite of his short knockdown, Louis said it didn`t harm him. Really tough to estimate the outcome, cause Holmes was a more modern fighter with better footwork and great jab. Though I think Louis could handle him. Louis would win via late stoppage. (Louis of Schmeling 2 v Holmes of the Ali fight) I favour Louis here. He seemed to be almost unstoppable, when he fought Schmeling. (Louis of Jersey Joe 1 ft V Holmes of Spinks 1 ft) The Holmes against Spinks was really a good one and Louis was already past his prime against Walcott. I think Holmes would win via UD or maybe even late knockout.
