Louis had more title defences then Ike had fights, and Louis' resume before winning the title shits all over Ike's.

You can't compare someone who fought a couple decent opponents, to someone with an insanely deep resume as Louis. Anyone who fights a lot of top opponents has some that give them more trouble than you'd expect, be it a bad style, an off night etc.

Even ignoring Louis' very best wins had Ike fought all of Louis 2 or 3rd tier opponents, I think he's very unlikely to make it through that unbeaten, especially if some are as he's aging/

 

No...Jersey Joe Walcott for one would beat him; I'm assuming prime for prime.

I do think Ike would defeat Two Ton Toney Galento. In the ring. In a back alley, Toney demolishes Ike.

 

He’d go insane after a few defenses and be institutionalized.

 

He would have almost no chance of maintaining a decade of consistency.

Can you imagine if Jim Braddock's manager was trying to decide whether to fight Ike or Max Schmeling? It took two years. How would Ike handle that?

After Ike decisioned Tua, he was mad he didn't get a title fight right away, kidnapped his ex-girlfriend’s 15-year-old son, drove his car into a concrete pillar in Texas, was charged with kidnapping and attempted murder. And, during a dinner with HBO execs, he grabbed a big carving knife, slammed it into the table and screamed "They knew it! They knew it! The belts belong to me! Why don’t they just give them back?”

Yeah, title shots were never going to happen for Ike, especially not in the era where you had to be a genteel black man with zero baggage to even be considered.

The Ike fantasies need to end.

Absolutely not. Putting mental health aside, even in this bizarre reality where a boxer can maintain his prime for a decade there are still boxers on Louis' resume who could have beaten Ike.

You know what im going to get some hate but I've always thought Old School fighters before the 60s are pretty overrated.

 

In the ring at that time the ONLY man who could have beaten Ike was Lennox. Talk was on for that fight too when that lying hooker ,did what no fighter could do, ended his career. Sure Ike did have mental problems but wouldnt you after being kept under heavy sedation 14 months while they harassed him to cop a plea They only had a he said, she said. She claimed she only claimed to DANCE for him ROFLMAO plus he never put a hand on her

 

He couldn't even outbox a quarter of his opponents from his era.

 

Because he wasn't an outboxer, but they're from two different eras. Lewis and Bowe fought in an era with powerful skilled big men, not stiff plodding big men with 0 head movement and footwork. Walcott is skilled but he's tiny compared to top 90s heavyweights. Wlad isn't as fluid but he knows how to use his size and he's skilled

 

He didn`t have Conn`s hand speed or combo`s and ws a lot easier to hit.
