Canelo Alvarez vs Avni Yildirim is set for February 27th

37 days from today. Wonder when the fight will be official.

 

I love Canelo but they have to start giving his opponents firm commitments 12 weeks in advance.

I can't imagine Avni Yildirim has money to bring in the resources he would want for a Canelo fight just in case one happens.

 

I'm surprised they didn't give him 12 hours lead time.

 

I'm calling it: last minute switch to the Amir Khan rematch.

I like Canelo but he's only fuelling the controversy with the way they're making these fights. Also, not good for the TV companies or the fans as less build up coverage and excitement as well as poorer undercards.

I can't believe I'm saying this but I actually feel for the TV companies and promoters as at this stage Canelo is probably pretty much the only person getting anything out of a Canelo fight, and in the long run this will only hurt us fans as TV companies pull even further away from boxing

Smith : odd fight where everything was stacked in Canelos favour including giving Smith a short camp. Smith didn't push the fight at all and when landing went on the backfoot. Suspect Canelo fight again. Also, quite obvious Canelo is on something... In fact when has he been off something.

Kovalev: blatant fix. Anyone who thinks otherwise really don't have a clue what they are watching. You can't blame Kovalevs lack of lateral, in out movement, lack of urgency to get away from counters, throwing every punch without intent as down to a short camp. Glorified Sparring session to add to Canelos fraud "legacy" and to gain some subs for DAZN.

Jacobs : Jacobs decided to do next to nothing the first 6 rounds before actually throwing hands. No it wasn't down to Jacobs being "scared" of Canelos "masterful counterpunching".

This is a stay busy fight that's been rumored for months now so anyone crying about a short camp is full of crap. Back in the day champions fought every 5 weeks Yildirim is lucky to get an opportunity to make some canelo money.
