He could have fought his IBF mandatory in Kid Galahad next instead of Lara, and then wouldn't have vacated the belt...
The reason he vacated was because he wants to fight Can Xu and Gary Russell Jr in Spring. The Lara fight is just a stay busy fight.
The IBF Purse Bid for Galahad Warrington was today. He knew the Xu fight wouldn't happen because the IBF wouldn't sanction it. He isn't comfortable fighting Galahad in front of no fans because he knows it's too risky of a fight.
Nah this is a duck. He was going to be forced to take his mandatory so he just vacated it because he lost to Kid last time out and he knows it.
Personally I doubt Warrington is afraid of fighting Galahad again. Warrington simply wants to face the other champions in the division and if the IBF won't allow him to partake in an unification bout, so be it.
Who is he fighting in February? Warrington knew that after taking the Lara fight he would either have to face his mandatory in Galahad or vacate. If he wanted to unify, he would have fought Galahad instead of Lara and then he had a year for the big fights.
Yes your right Warrington knew it was either the Galahad rematch or vacating. Hopefully he does get a big fight, otherwise losing his belt would be a big kick to the balls.
It was one of those nip and tuck fights that I felt almost definitely favoured one fighter over the other and it was Galahad who made Warrington look awful in there. It was impossible to have given 7 rounds to Josh in that fight unless you're extremely biased.
I go with this ^^^ Warrington wants bigger fights than the Kid again. Also the way Josh fights he only have so many top fights in him I don't blame him.
Good on him. Navarrete is the war to make at 126 though... That is a guaranteed FOTY candidate and we know Vaquero wants ALL the smoke. I wouldn’t mind Russell either as it’s a 50/50 and a good contrast of styles.
