Oleksandr Usyk hints he WILL step aside for Anthony Joshua to fight Tyson Fury in ‘once in a lifetime’ unification bout.
When asked if he would consider moving aside, Usyk told SunSport: "All four belts might end up in the same hands of one person.

"It might be a once in a lifetime opportunity. We should all talk and communicate for that to happen because it is a really big event."
    Will Usyk step aside?

Why wouldn't he? Get a contract that gives him a large sum of step aside money, and also guarantees him a shot at the winner.

Usyk will make the right decision here. He also doesn't want to become hated by the boxing world for getting in the way of this fight.

Amazing how being offered millions of dollars helps Usyk lean towards stepping aside. Dramatic pivot from his earlier statements saying:

“I have earned my shot at the title, I won’t step aside” now to “This is a once in a lifetime fight that should happen”.

I am guessing if you were offered a massive pay raise at your job, and all they were asking you to do is not do your job for a while, you may be inclined to accept.

Usyk didn't make much from the WBSS or even before that. Most of his purses for the WBSS were tied to a percentage of the gate, which for nearly all the fights took place in sparcely filled to empty arenas.

His guaranteed purse for the Glowacki fight was $50,000. For Huck $75,000. For Briedis $200,000. For Gassiev $400,000.

His guarantess were $1 million for Bellew. $1.5 million for Witherspoon. And $2.5 million for Chisora. So, he just cracked the one-million-dolllar-per-fight barrier three fights ago.

He's just happy to be there at this point. He'll probably be easy to buy off. Just give him 50 grand and put a bow on a new sound system to play his crappy music. (LOL)

Guess it's up to Wilder to derail the biggest fight in UK History.

    He has no option

Unless the WBO want to put a gun to their own heads

About time the boxers get to tell the governing bodies how it works, not the other way around.

When Fury wins all them belts again he should vacate them all. No doubt the IBF will strip him after 10 DAYS again. lol. farce.

If he steps aside, I hope he doesn't just sit on his ass and waits for the shot. I'd like to him to face a really live opponent, but he's unlikely to that if he has a mega pay-day already secured,

I'd rather see that WBO strips AJ, Usyk fights someone decent for the title and then, if he wins, faces the winner of AJ-Fury in a unification.

But from his point of view, I can see why he would prefer a good pay-day for doing nothing if he at the same time can secure a showdown for all the marbles with either Fury or AJ.

Fury needs to fight Usyk if he beats AJ, that would be a great fight.

He's allowed to change his mind. Regardless, it's win-win for all parties

I think you are all forgetting that they are working on him and Joyce for the WBO interim championship.

I already covered this. He and Joyce will fight for the interim championship, Fury and AJ will fight for the four belts, and when they have the rematch, Fury/Joshua will be stripped of the WBO belt and it will devolve to the winner of Uysk/Joyce.

There will be a unified champ for 15 minutes or so.

I wanna see Usyk step up in his next fight and fight a top 5 guy and see what he can do. Because i thought he struggled against chisora and hes barely scratchingbat the top 10.

He should force the AJ fight. I'm not convinced they'll drop the belts to fight Fury since they love the leverage of those belts and know it will take years to chase them all down again. If they did drop the belts it would be an admission they think Usyk has a great chance against AJ which is a mental victory.

Maybe Uysk thinks AJ might get the win over Fury and then he has a better chance of beating AJ and getting all the belts.
But I think he knows Fury is more likely to win and so he'd have to face Fury and that's a harder fight for him.
If he waits and ends up facing Fury, he'll likely come away with no belts.

Usyk has a better chance of beating AJ and at least getting a bunch of belts, then even if he loses to Fury, he's been a HW champion.
Also he has a better chance of beating Fury if Fury goes awol or even just undisciplined after not getting the AJ fight and becomes very inactive.

How much do they actually get paid to step aside, any ideas?

Usyk needs to get some experience against a top heavyweight before he steps into the ring with AJ or Fury or he's going be embarrassed. aj/fury aren't green cruiser hunter/joyce
