I was friends with Shaun at one time on fb. He was a tragic figure.

Care to share more. Al. I have only ever heard bad things about him, including from himself in interviews.

It would be interesting to know if there's another side to the story.

I don't know the other side of the story to be honest. I've probably heard the same things as you. All I can say is that when he sent me a friend request he was building a boxing site and was after photos and that. I spoke to him a few times by messenger and he was always nice and respectful.

I know what you mean and agree, Colonel. We spoke about 'best in ring gear' earlier and part of the appeal of the FoTC and Hagler was how they looked.

Fury, with his shrunken head, moobs, gut, skinny legs and trainers looks like some fat slob off a building site. Which is fine as that's how I'd look. But I want my heroes to look a bit more heroic.

Combined with his boxing style which is effective but not thrilling and there is nothing about his appearing on my TV that is aesthetically pleasing. Perhaps that's superficial on my part but I find it all a turn off. Then again, I have so little interest in current boxing where most contenders for the heavyweight title are either in their 40s or grossly overweight - or both - I don't need much reason to switch off.

He did say in an interview that he had been an arsehole in the past. Perhaps that recognition was the first step towards being a better person.

I saw a nice comment about your dad as I was looking him up yesterday - 'The most gracious man you could ever meet'. That must be nice to read.
