I didn't need anything proving i already knew by the rounds it went I've never watched it and never will
How can you comment on something you didn´t watch? However, Floyd did not carry McGregor. He took his time. And if you watched the fight, it was clear that Conor surprised Floyd in the early rounds. But after the 4th, Floyd started ramping things up and just kept pushing the action. Floyd´s own team said it, that the gameplan was to tire McGregor out and push him backwards. That is exactly what Floyd did.
Sadly I think it actually makes it more likely Connor goes for novelty fights for some big money. Right now it looks like the pac man fight is dead but if manny loses his title to bud or spence then all of the sudden that fight starts "making sense" from a promotional standpoint. I may have the minority view among boxing fans/media but I don't think the path to boxing making a comeback with american audiences is to imitate/crossover/engage with UFC beyond of course athletes being free to switch sports whenever they want. I think in the short term its a way for the guys who have already gotten rich to try and keep the same level of income but long term its bad for the sport. In fact short term thinking like that is a problem in a lot of industries
I watched it an McGregor had no power what so ever in boxing gloves. Floyd put on a show he tired him out an stopped him like you said it was his game plan. I feel Floyd could have went out there an put a beating on McGregor from round one if he wanted too tho. I wish McGregor was fighting Canelo or someone he would have been asleep in the first minute. I am glad he lost last night tho because the Pac fight would have happened an It would have been a waste of time.
I agree, the whole Conor is a big puncher is BS... he’s not a big puncher by any means it’s all hyperbole. Im glad he lost hopefully this MMA vs Boxer stuff will stop. It’s 2 different sports with different skill sets.
exactly it's a very good business decision Manny deserves it just like Floyd did in 2017 like a bonus just before you retire
Dominated the sport? He had a coupe big wins but he never dominated the sport. He lost easily to their best fighter and lost again last night. He generates lots of interest/$$$ so he’s allowed to do what he does. Lost last night but it wasn’t a surprise. No one is touting this guy as the best in the sport. Not even close. Just the most popular and the numbers don’t lie. MMA and boxing are two DIFFERENT sports. They both have their advantages although I’m old school and will always be a bigger boxing fan but I have a casual interest in MMA because I’ve followed it for decades. The one thing MMA seems to have over boxing is the fact that fighters, for the most part, fight more frequently and they usually make the top guys fight each other. Unlike boxing where guys like Crawford and Spence can go for years without fighting each other. Same with Fury/AJ, we’ve been talking about that for a long time. There is no MMA equivalent to Tank Davis, a guy who pads his record with little guys and washed up old guys, protecting that zero. If he was in MMA, he would have fought a legit opponent at his actual weight by now. Boxers are unfortunately allowed to protect the zero way too much these days and cherry pick opponents.
Nah. McGregor was a great fighter. He's lost his fire after making millions vs Floyd. He easily beat this guy the first time in the first round. He's not a terrible boxer. You're just comparing him to guys who do nothing but box. His losing here had to do with leg kicks too. It's a totally different sport and he would kill Floyd in a real fight. I like boxing more than MMA but this insecurity boxing fans have towards MMA is weird.
Floyd didn't have the balls to take it to an MMA fighter in his own sport. Why didn't he carry the much smaller Japanese opponent who needed more carrying? Because he felt safer.
Maybe because he only got paid 9 million vs 200 million i think maybe that had something to do with it.
It was an exhibition match. And he goes in there and destroys the dude, who presents no danger to him. He couldn't go a few more rounds in an exhibition? That just doesn't support him carrying Conor. He wanted Conor to tire out because he's just not the guy to go for it unless the odds are 100% in his favor.
As it should, PAC is old, he should take a payday and retire. Noway he should be fighting Spence or Crawford.
