Conor was considered by some as the greatest MMA fighter in history until Khabib battered him, Ferguson has now been exposed twice and Diaz who beat Conor once really wasn`t that good at all, these three were big names in the MMA world a few years ago, but didn`t Dustin just prove that he, Khabib and Israel are a cut above the elite fighters from Conor`s era 5 years ago?
I think his FW was great. Beating Aldo in 13 seconds was remarkable, as well as young Max, Chad Mendes, Porier in 2 mins. When he moved up to fight the heavier guys he struggled against Nate and Khabib. Eddie was a solid win but that title shot was gifted Conor was great when he cut weight and fought midgets
Tbh, he has the beating of porier if he was on his game. If he can’t knuckle down and sort his cardio out he may as well sack it off. He was out of gas after the first round
Conor was superb at 145. His run there was exciting for the fans and his trash talk was funny and he backed it up. Above 145 he has ONE excellent win against Alvarez in an undeserved title fight. One win and that's it. If he was treated like all other fighters he would never see a title shot at 155 as he would NEVER be able to string together 5,6,7,8,9,10,11,12 fight win streaks like others have to do and have done. There has always been heaps of guys at 155 that would have beaten him or caused him all sorts of trouble. His ability above 145 has always been smoke and mirrors to anyone who wasn't a dumb casual fan.
Nah mark, he fought legit bad ass fighters, Aldo is a better fighter the porier, also Conner fought porier already in that era your on about
He was a brilliant featherweight. Would have been interesting to see how his career would have panned out had Dos Anjos not pulled out of their fight. The 2 fights with Diaz will have took a lot out of him.
It had little to do with cardio. Poirier took his lead leg away. And since Conor had no balance, he could not take those shots. Poirier can crack.
I dont think anybody with half a brain thought connor was in the GOAT discussion. One of the best FW yes. Overall? Nowhere near
Mark was asking about Conor's Era, not just Conor And Tony wasn't "exposed". He went 12-0 against a murderers row. He's not some timeless ageless android that never gets old Conor himself was a quality fighter. Dustin deserves huge credit for doing what he did, to both Conor and Gaethjethjthjjethaeaetjjj
And McGregor has gone the other way. It’s not a different level now though mark, it hasn’t evolved at that pace imo that your on about. McGregor isn’t a dedicated pro that’s all, I’d say loads beat him last night
I will say i thought connor looked very good in the first round. Its not like he looked like **** straight from the bell. He won the first. He just cant handle being pushed back, hes gotta be on the front foot probing. The moment he starts moving backward you know hes on his way to losing the fight.
i think Connor looked good in the first, as well. I am thinking it had more to do with cardio and conditioning than the mere front/back foot analogy. I feel like Poirier bided his time and sealed the deal when Connor was losing steam and focus and starting to get sloppy....just my $0.02
