Who would you pick to win this fight? Back in the 90s the considered B level fighters were still very good in comparison to todays Elite level fighters. AJ is considered by many as Elite by todays standard and Morrison is considered B level in his Era or at least thats how i see it. After rewatching watching a few of Tommy's fights i just get the feeling he would KO Joshua i fell he defiantly has the power in both hands and also alot better footwork and boxing ability than AJ. Whats your take on it?
Tommy’s chin wouldn’t be able to deal with Joshua. Joshua has beaten many good fighters. Wlad, Parker, Povetkin, Whyte, Pulev, Ruiz. Morrison beat very few if any top prime contenders.
AJ easily beats this guy. Watch his fight with fat Andy, same blueprint easily out points Morrison. AJ is stiff and awkward but he easily outboxes someone like Morrison. Morrison’s only chance of winning is to get a cut early and scare AJ enough to run away. I’m not a big fan of AJ but he gets way less respect than he deserves around here. He’s a big athletic guy who is too stiff and not the best boxer but he’s good enough to beat most fighters, maybe not the elites but we will know soon when he fights Fury.
Joshua is too big and skilled for Morrison, who left himself wide open. I liked Morrison as an attraction, but he was a bit overhyped because he was white. Let's be honest.
If Morrison cleanly lands that Left Hook it’s good night and god bless AJ! However. . . . The same can be said for just about any Heavyweight in the history of the sport barring a tiny few who had god like chins. Morrison’s Left Hook was as good as any in the divisions history, Frazier, Tyson, Tua, Cooper etc If they fought I suspect AJ would take the same route as Lewis, stay at distance, moving to his left to negate Morrison’s Left Hook. A points win or late stoppage for AJ
Cuts ? If Morrison lands his left hook sweet, Joshua is gone. Much better than Whytes and even Povetkins. One of thee best left hooks the heavyweights has ever seen. I do think AJ beats him, but that left hook if it lands is putting Joshua out, he’s no Ray Mercer in taking damage Joshua
I think this would be closer to a 50-50 fight then expected. Maybe 55-45 for AJ. But between the two, Tommy had the worse chin. But in regards to who had the better single punch, that would be The Duke, and his left hook.
Joshua probably stops him. The weaknesses that Joshua has in stamina, so did Tommy. There's been concern about Joshua's chin, but it wasn't just "concern" with Tommy's chin. It was a given that it was poor. Tommy did have a good mix of power and speed, he could throw pretty nice free flowing combos. He's dangerous, and did have a lot of heart, but I think he gets stopped after having some early success.
Morrison imo couldn’t recover if hurt, Joshua has that problem to I think but goes quiet instead of dramatically dropped or took out like the duke. I think it’s a closer fight than most think like yourself and I wouldn’t be surprised if either was laid out cold
