To name a few. The two Yamanaka vs Nery fights. Second Rungvisai vs Gonzalez fight. First Joshua vs Ruiz fight. Martinez vs Cotto. Hopkins vs Kovalev. All of Roy Jones' KO losses.
Any really depressingly bad mismatch. Some of the worst ones you see are at bad amateur [especially 'white collar'] level. It's a bit niche but c 14 years ago I watched some daft one off tournament between pro [maybe recently retired] sportsmen who weren't-boxers, England vs New Zealand. The [IIRC] penultimate bout was super depressing, an English rower against a Kiwi cricketer, there'd been some mixup over the weight classes, with the rower having starved himself to make cruiser/heavy only to find out on the night that the guy he was up had understood it was an open heavy/superheavy bout so came in at about 230lbs. Worse was to follow when it turned out that the [on the night] bigger man was also a far more experienced boxer, boasting a wicked ramrod left jab that proved to be ridiculously devastating at this level. Concussion swiftly followed. But this was only a warmup for the fight involving an English cricketer against a Kiwi something or other, the Brit looking and acting, I have to say, like he was roided to the proverbial gills, proceeded to smash up the other guy quickly but, opponent on the ropes, was so worked up that he didn't seem to notice/ care that the ref [small, elderly looking] had scuttled between them & was frantically trying to wave the fight off, just kept on unloading, was rightly disqualied and the fight awarded to his very groggy victim.
Tarver/Jones 2: the conclusion to this fight made my heart explode I hate this fight all the way down to the depths of my soul.................I was literally explaining why Roy was going to beat him up in this fight when he got popped
Wlad - Sultan Ibragimov Wlad's first fight in the mecca of boxing Madison Square Garden, hyped heavily by HBO it was his big chance to show the world that he was the next boxing superstar. What we got instead was 12 painful rounds of Wlad and Sultan high fiving each other, can't remember a single notable punch being landed.
Fights that pains me to watch: Curry vs Honeyghan RJJ vs Tarver 2 / Johnson / Calzaghe Arguello vs Pryor 2 Fights that leaves me disgusted: Agbeko vs Mares 1 Lara vs Williams Ward vs Kovalev 1
Fury Wilder 1 ....Fury robbed Golota v Bowe I and II...beginning of Bowe decline Holyfield v Valuev ...Holyfield robbed of 4th times champion title Foreman v Briggs...Foreman robbed Collins v Resto...a shame for boxing
I hate seeing the greats go on for too long. Those last two Tyson fights (Williams, McBride) were so sad. Same with Ali's last two (Holmes, Berbick). I hate watching those kinds of fights. I know that i can't even begin to imagine what it must be like to be one of the greats and then to have to accept your own boxing mortality, or to deny yourself some more big paychecks, but I just wish more boxers would have the self awareness and self discipline to bow out gracefully.
Luis Resto- Billy Collins is a fight I hate. As I've posted before, Eusebio Pedroza-Bernard Taylor was maybe the most boring fight I've seen.
Typical! The man refutes your claims with facts and your first instinct is say you don't care about a topic you posted about in the first place and go on to try and critisize him instead of bring up a counter argument to support your argument.
