It is a very simple question - do value two (arguably 3) underdog wins against long reigning champions or solid wins vs a number of contenders. I’ve said it a few times, but AJ has literally never ever been a betting underdog in a single fight in his career. Not once. Fury has been underdog 4 times, Chisora 1, Klitschko, Wilder 1&2.
Spot on. Fury has the better resume. AJ has made a career out of beating European level fighters and old men on home turf.
I wasn't typing it in brackets, I think you mean another user. In terms of the thread, the resume doesn't matter, because Fury and Joshua will now fight each other, so the resumes are irrelevant.
Based on what ?. The Luis Ortiz fight ? He was struggling out his ass before he put the right hand in. The Povetkin that Joshua fought would have iced Wilder. The eric Molina fight ? Didnt wilder have trouble with him ? Lol. Didn't He have a lot of trouble with Szpilka? Wilder is so overrated its funny. Why do you think he hasn't fought more top opponents. He would have been exposed already
You’re acting like he’s not allowed to ‘put the right hand in’. If Povetkin didn’t fail drug tests and Hearn didn’t get the WBA to schedule a convenient mandatory he’d have fought a lot more top opponents. I have no doubt that Wilder would knock out Whyte, Parker, Povetkin and Pulev.
I get your point but everyone who knew anything knew Wilder was terrible. This isn’t said with hindsight.
He was still an undefeated champion who knocked out everyone he faced - Ortiz who had been ducked from Joshua (despite being 67 years old) twice were solid wins. Even though he was wildly limited he was 42-0 with 41 knockouts which can’t be sniffed at.
Wilder was (is) a very good one trick pony. But he probably lost every single round in 4 fights against Ortiz and Fury (with the exception of those that he had them on the canvas).
Joshua did not duck Ortiz. The person representing Ortiz turned down £7m, thinking they could squeeze more, without telling Ortiz as was reported on here with quotes. Once Ortiz was made aware, another contract had already been agreed with another fighter. The representative was then apologetic to Ortiz, admitting he had goofed up.
