No he's done at Middleweight, he hasn't fought at it in nearly 2 years, relinquished his belts and there's no way he's comfortably making Middleweight and being able to perform at the level he needs to without Clen and as he's already been busted for it a second busting would probably seriously harm his career. He's feeding off of the near corpses of guys who are struggling to make weight or getting old now, the ghost of Kovalev, the drained Smith, Eubank Jnr KO victim Yildrim up next at 168 before sharing a ring with one of the laziest 2 weight undefeated World Champions you'll ever see.
Because the same thing will happen, he will lose, prime or no prime By doing it this way he can say he called them out for years and they avoided him until he was out of his prime and that's why he lost. Leaving the big what would have happened if BJS fought them in his prime question the uneducated boxing fans will ask
He would 100% but at least a few years ago he was closer to his prime, at one point he looked like a good challenger for the elite
You’ve got to respect Canelo (apart from his drugs bust). He’s the most active world champion at present. December - Smith, unification. February - Yildrim, mandatory. May - Saunders, unification agreed (apparently). He aims to fight again in September and maybe December too. If one of them was someone like Plant you’d be hard pressed to find a better 12 month resumé for world championship boxing for many a year.
If he fights Plant in his 60th pro fight and cleans up the SMW division this year that is a formidable achievement for a fighter only 30 years old. Most British fighters are reaching for the pipe and slippers after 25 fights.
Definitely. I dislike him for obvious reasons but technically he's a great boxer with one hell of a chin and he doesn't just sit back and do nothing for months at a time. If his whole career was above board he'd be one of my favourite boxers but it's just ruined by knowing what he's done and also the uncertainty surrounding how long it went on for.
Hes fought twice a year for the last 8 years. Once last time so is squeezing in another to make up for that lost revenue. I think now he is fighting at his natural weight he doesnt need as many PEDS between fights so can become more active. Easily one of my favourites to watch at the moment.
I see even Fury has given an interview implying he feels Saunders may not win as has been too inactive.
I agree Mark makes a massive difference but still feel that the damage has already been done by the long bouts of inactivity, the C level opposition and just not living the life.
