this is what i say, canelo vs Saunders in may, plant vs benevidez, and winners fight in a blockbuster Undisputed title fight for all the marbles... yeah that sounds really good.
I definitely want to see the fight but I also understand the history and dynamic on why plant doesn’t want to do Benavidez any favors. He was actively calling to unify with Benavidez for 2 years and Benavidez’s team kept stalling by saying he wasn’t ready. Now he doesn’t have a belt and Canelo is in the division he all of a sudden is demanding the fight. Kind of remind me of Thurman who was in no rush to face certain fighters until he lost to Pac then he start calling out Spence and Crawford
Plant is a slickster man, hes got a good shot at outboxing DB. I like DB, but people on the board are really overrating him, like hes this monster..
Plant isn't a slickster. He's somewhat elusive, albeit against limited competition. Benevidez has perfect punching form and technique and it comes with speed and power. Only thing stopping Benevidez from becoming a monster is himself — drugs and weight management.
DB technique is not perfect, hes very unorthodox the way he throws his punches, could be because hes so lanky, but i think Plant will implement more movement in his strategy and that will offset DB. I do agree about the weight management tho.
Very good fight Plant fell asleep at the wheel at times last night and got caught by some flush right hands He is slick but vulnerable and not the busiest puncher. I think this is a good fight
Plant's bootleg Gypsy Slickness might cause Benavidez some problems for a a few rounds but it won't save him from a biblical ass whooping once Benavidez catches up with him and starts letting his hands start fly.
