There's validity in what you say, Plant will give anyone trouble with his skills but I kinda think Clenelo will attack him and make him fight. Plant has to land something to get Alvarez's attention.
Last night was a poor audition by Plant. What's the theory that he wins? He confuses and outboxes Canelo? I mean maybe, but today's Canelo is a better stalker than he was in the past, and Plant appears to have no power or ability to step on the gas. I would not be excited for it. Too bad, because in the past I have loved 168. It's bad right now, tho.
He does not have the power to keep Canelo off of him. He will got brutality knocked out after looking ok for a few rounds. Think the Amir Kahn fight.
Plant is WAY bigger than Khan and is more unorthodox. I think he will give Canelo a better fight (seriously Khan should never been allowed to fight a guy as big as Canelo). Plant will probably win rounds but he seems to get confused when it comes time to step on the gas. Canelo’s good fortune with the judges aside, I could see him legitimately putting a beating on Plant’s body and taking him out late. Plant isn’t as bad as some people on this site would have you believe. He’s almost a really good fighter but the gaps in his game are hard to overlook. More troubling is he doesn’t seem to be improving. Canelo is still getting better, finding his power at 168 and adding to his boxing IQ. Plant seems to have fallen in love with his speed (like Khan did) and stagnating at his current level.
Plant got the ability to survive 12 if he decides to fight and trade could be a short night don't have the power to keep Canelo off.
I like plants style but everytime I see him fight he's in against the same basic, high guard plodder which might be making him appear better than he is.
Canelo takes 4-5 rounds to figure him out, Plant looks good and flashy early, starts getting tagged more and more, before getting worn down and stopped 9-10th round.
I like Plants style and I used to think hed be the one to really trouble Canelo but at this point I just cant pick him. Canelo by UD or late stoppage.
