This is probably going to be the most hilarious thread ever because someone is going to end up getting into it with someone else. But anyways, what is your opinion on these too styles? A lot of great boxers used both styles and successfully made them the greatest of all times.

the question isn't what is the best style, but what is the best style for each person.

I get where you are going, but I'm not much for argument. I tend to answer boxing questions seriously because I love analyzing strategies and techniques.

I agree with Aussie. In general I think stick and move is good for longevity, but some people don't have the attributes to pull it off, height, reach, speed, reaction times. Some guys are built like tanks, slow feet, good chins, gotta grind their opponents out.

Foot speed can always be increase if you put the effort into doing it. The stick and move is literally hands down the best style. Anybody can use it, small people, fat people, tall people, and black people XD. Anybody can use the style, but for slow reaction, they will have to rely on blocks, parries and their foot speed.

Exactly, there’s also been times where the mover wins and where the slugger wins. No real answer....

I think that generally speaking, a GREAT mover beats a GREAT slugger, but there are always exceptions (i.e., Saddler and Pep... I want to say Frazier and Ali but Ali's movement wasn't elite after the exile). However, what about "slug and slip" fighters who knew how to apply pressure and counterpunch without getting hit like Qawi, Hagler, Chavez, Toney, Sal Sanchez or Duran? That might be the most effective style at the end of the day.

I'm trying to think of guys who were great sluggers, great counterpunchers AND great movers (guys who could fight on the backfoot and the inside equally well). Only 2 names come to mind: SRR and SRL, but I'm sure there are old time guys I haven't seen who had mastered both because they had to to fight 12x a year.

Slugging sucks it basically shows how bad old school boxing was, because of the amount of sluggers that had success back then. Anyway this whole boxer/puncher/swarmer type of thinking is super ******ed and no wonder that the US is so bad at boxing right now, because they still live in the 60s.

When you're taller and/or have a better reach as your opponent, then hit and run or hit and hold have proven to be the superior tactic, the way boxing is scored.

To stick and move you gotta have a fast footwork..to slug instead you gotta have fast hands
