I just watched this shite back for some reason (rounds 10-12 were entertaining). Gave Fury 1, 3, 6, 7, 9, 10, 11 (2 as a draw) 116-113. 2, I gave the round as a draw, even though Wlad tbh landed cleaner punches ( 2 or 3 solids jabs not scuff jabs and a left hook near the end - best + cleanest pucnh of the round). Fury landed some scuff jabs 3 or 4 and some fairly light body jabs, a scuffing hook near the back of Klitschkos head and a left hook that appears to land near the end. You could score this either way tbh. Round 10 was very close and you can make an easy case for Wlad ( he does land cleaner jabs imo). Scoring 2 and 10 for Wlad which is very plausible makes it 114-114. People who think this was a masterclass or even a wide win are genuine ****ing idiots. Seen people giving some rounds to Fury for showboating and landing less clean jabs and getting caught with short scoring right hands. I've seen people actually score that 12th round to Fury despite being caught with 3-5 very clean punches and looking hurt. The left hook I think in the last minute almost buckles him. No idea how to timestamp.. 59:53 This content is protected
Like I've said. In round 12 Klitschko actually took the fight to Fury and had success. This is one of the main reasons i keep saying Joshuas combination punching and agression could pose problems for Fury. Its a 50/50 fight
Klitschko didn't just decide to take the fight to Fury in the last rounds, it was also Fury who opened up going for the finish. You can hear Meth telling him to do so in the corner. Also Fury was basically exhausted by the end having been on the move for the whole fight and suffering blisters on his feet. So keep that in mind when you say Wlad should have just put it on him from the beginning. Wlad was waiting for Fury to slow down, he said that himself, but Fury never gassed like most HWs. Wlad couldn't catch Fury when 2Fast was fresh. Fury was comfortably nicking rounds and handily winning the fight, that's obvious by the fact Jonathan Banks was very worried by the halfway mark and telling Wlad Fury was going to dance his way to victory (in Germany, no less). Banks was trying to get through to Wlad that he was going to lose, because Wlad was losing wide. Saying the fight is boring is like saying a slow paced thriller is boring on rewatch because you know the surprise/twist. Obviously the fight is pretty boring action wise on rewatch, but it was a thriller live due to Wlad's power and the fact he hadn't lost in a decade. Very suspenseful fight with Wlad falling behind against the odds and running out of time to KO Fury.
Its similar to the Jones Jr - Tarver I fight just reversed. You get so used to a guy winning and being dominant that any sort of competitiveness just makes people think theyre doing amazing when in reality its just an actual competitive fight for a change props to watching that one again Klitschko was unbelievably gun shy in that fight and tried letting his hands go way way to late. Manny wouldnt have allowed that
I haven't watched it again, but my memory live is that Fury clearly edged 7 or 8 rounds, Klit won 12 and the others were a toss up. I remember putting a bet on after Round 11 when Fury was paying about $1.60 head to head at 365. The fact the bookies had him favourite on live betting plus he got the decision in Germany indicates it was a pretty wide margin.
I was there. I remember thinking after 3 rounds well at least Fury hasn't embarrassed himself because he's clearly won the first 3. That just went on like that and Fury took his foot off the gas and Klitschko got the last 2 or 3.
Fight was never close. Not on the cards and not during the rounds. Somebody posted the shots thrown and landed a while ago, and they are comically low from both fighters. Fury dominated the scorecards but interestingly didn't dominate Wlad.
