@CST80 ..our boy returns, over a year after his tuneup versus Rosbel Montoya and nearly two after his draw with Terrell Gausha. García, meanwhile, hasn't see action since 2018, when The Tortoise was blitzed in two minutes by Canadian prospect Jessie Wilcox. This content is protected
The only way this match would be interesting is if they stage it midday on a beach in the Dry Tortugas. Not sure what the point of this match even is. I love Trout, but he's wasting his time here. I mean, if he's going to fight at Welterweight, at least take on some Robert Guerrero leftovers like Gerald Thomas.
Doesn't say anywhere... fitetv has the full card listed w/ no weights, and it hasn't even gone up on BoxRec yet. Main Event: Austin Trout vs Juan Armando García Bryan Mosiños vs Jesús Lemus ABF Titles Alexis Olmos vs Craig Parker Rene Palacios vs Emmanuel Villamar Carlos López vs Edgar Martinez Brandon White vs Israel Flores Savion Kent vs Salvador Martínez *fight card subject to change
Right? He literally fought a random tomato can to wash the Gausha taste out already, 370 days before this. Is this just going to be his new thing into his forties - meaningless squash matches every February, and then momentum scrapped?
Apparently not. Can't even find highlights of it - nary even a clip or GIF on Twitter! It seems he cruised to a UD, though. Which itself speaks volumes. This was a "stop the man or go home" type of deal.
I watched it, surprised the judges had it 99-91 instead of 100-90. Wasn't a great fight, Trout was clearly better and really should have gotten the KO but seemed unable to do so. Looked at the ref in the 10th a couple times after he finally stepped it up a bit.
Looked like he did a few times. Threw a pair of uppercuts around the 3rd that looked like it stunned Garcia.
