Indeed. In so many cases there seems to be a turning point in their lives, where these guys tipped over into going all in on the bad side of the tracks. For CK snr it was when he was arrested and jailed in Dublin years ago for bring a grubby little heroin dealer basically. In prison he took full advantage of educational opportunities, and self advancement etc. Apparently he postponed his own release date in order to finish coursework to get a degree of some sort. A criminal who decided to stay in jail! When he got out he decided he was not going back inside, ever. Cleaned up his act. Clever man too. Learned multiple languages, culture, the arts, opera, very high brow stuff, by all accounts comes across as a very nice guy to meet or talk to .....until he isn't.
