Very good post, Henry Cooper decked Muhammad Ali on June 18 1963 before Ali won the title from Sonny Liston on Feb 25 1964. But in the rematch with Henry Cooper on May 21 1966, Ali stopped Henry by TKO 6 this time to retain his title, no knockdown, gave Cooper a severe cut that required 14 stitches.
lolololol. How are ya mate? long time no read. Im not trying to do a 'my ice cube is colder than your ice cube' ****, but i think i may have a contemporary for this. Guy in work whos about 20yr old, loves his boxing. Not classic boxing but enough of todays fight scene to hold a conversation. We have a chat now and again about the upcoming fights and im usually trying to steer him towards checking out older fighters that you can watch on youtube and that, so he knows ive got a keen interest in the history of the sport. Well a few weeks back he tells me about this new guy in work who he met in the gym (the gym in work) and as he was hitting the bag, the new guy struck up a conversation about boxing. Towards the end of the conversation the new guys voice lowered and leaned towards the other lads ear and semi-whispered 'Listen, theres a guy called AJ, a heavyweight, and trust me, this year hes gonna be fighting a guy called Fury. This fights gonna be big. Remember where you heard it first' , before ghosting out the gym door like harry lime outta the third man.
Hey there,John ! Good to see you on here still too. Hope all's well with you, mate. That post sure made me chuckle !
No one, ever. I have a few friends my age who liked boxing as kids many years ago, but only casually. The only real classic boxing fans I've ever known are my dad and his friends, and many of those guys are no longer with us.
