PPV is greed. My idea would be to put it all on sky but charge ppv (small fee) for anyone who hasn't got sky.. i. e. Ppv gets you access to normal sky for that time period. The people buying ppv in that setup might decided to just get sky permanenty. End result after a while is more subscribers overall but ppv still there for new comers.
Also, this 80% of PPV buys are just before the main event. If the whole card is made up of non headline fights then I just dont see it working. As someone else said, sounds like he wants to charge for a standard Saturday night card
Just go down the river, won't even cost you for a fishing licence. 90% of hardcores complain at cards not being PPV worthy, me included but tbh I carn't even remember the last PPV I actually paid for and I've watched every single one in good quality. Plenty of people on here willing to hook you up on the night just ask for a PM on the RBR thread.
Another reason to get rid of ppv. Loads of people bypass it and wet dreams are on the rise. Internet will only get faster as time goes on.
It will be ..... Katy Taylor (obviously) 2 x pointless "regular" title fights Kid Galahad putting people to sleep fighting for the vacant IBF belt Eddie can shove it.
The fact of the matter is Sky likely put up between £150-500k per normal Saturday night card. Giving Hearn a £5m budget across 16 shows on normal Sky and likely 4 contracted PPVs. Without ticket sales that’s the whole budget of the show. A world title fight will drive purses and eat into the budget As an example Glowacki is likely on a minimum £150k-£250k and Okolie for a home fight £80-125k. That fight alone with all event and bubble costs and undercard will go way into £500k. Therefore the budget will need to be lowered on other events such as the Warrington card. if Hearn has 4/5 Glowacki vs Okolie level fights like Taylor vs Jonas. The only way he can put them on without ticket sales is for the fighters to take less, Sky pay more or lump them all on to one PPV card. Due to the purses involved he’s got no way of financing the fight so the only other way of doing it is to stick it all on PPV. Sky can’t put more money up as they spend most resources on football and have dwindling subscriber numbers. Only hope is that Matchroom now realise we need more 50/50 fight cards for mice crowds come back as we would expect quality to increase once ticket sales are back if that’s the reason we are led to believe the quality is lower. on top of that he’s likely contracted to a minimum of 4 PPVs and currently he only really has AJ and Whyte that have proven PPV numbers unless he can put together a Brook vs Khan card or something.
I actually don't like "going to the river", I am someone who doesn't actually mind paying for things. I prefer doing things properly so that is why I find it frustrating.
I am sure I read something about looking to make a series of events similar to waht did last year with Chisora vs Parker, Hrgovic vs Bakole, Johnson vs Buatsi and K.Taylor vs TBA.
Yeah I'm the same.half the people moaning will be going fishing with biggles and are here complaining so it's a bit odd.
Such a shame the frequency of PPVs. Firmly believe PPVs should only be used to enabled the very best to fight the best, not 12th in the world fight 14th.
PPV is a funny one for me,we all know rubbish fights when we see them, but does anyone actually force you to buy PPVs? No,if you don't like the product then don't buy it, you'll see it soon enough any way I fully get folk being annoyed at things being PPV that shouldn't,and it is bad form and all the rest of it,but it's bin happening,it'll stay happening so if it's not a bit of you don't buy it
I want to support boxing, im very happy to pay for something that is worth it but these last few years we have been served up shite. Id rather sky put small hall shows on PPV at the moment than pay for fighters inflated purses.
Rubbish, look at the knock on effect from the attitude of people like you. We now have PPV for almost anything. We all love boxing and want to watch it but why should spoet subscribers always be expected to pay more?
