But to mention Tyson vs Buster is a cheap shot in that you are picking Tyson who was no longer dedicatd to training but partying, etc. Its a known fact. We are talking about the Tyson under Cus D Amato. Tysons true prime & peak was short live... so there are many performances he had that were past his prime...including fights where he won by ko. The prime Tyson wasn't just going for a slug one punch knockout, he was the guy who had discipline, defensive skills, threw to the body and head, and would use his athletic gifts to his advantage.
Would it be a fare comparison to call out the Lennox Lewis that came in against hasim rachman the first fight?

 

I'd take a prime Wlad.

A clinching, holding, pushing Wlad would extend the fight while mixing in his jab. Wlad's style and monster size difference would wear down Tyson until he opened up his offense. If big spares like Green, Tillis, and others can extend the fight, Wlad can.

And Tyson doesn't display any of the characteristics of the fighters who have beaten or given Wlad problems.

I just don't like Tyson against any skilled big.

I hate to admit it but you're right. Tillis was the first thing I thought of when I saw the title to this thread.

 

A prime Tyson displays every characteristic needed to beat Wlad as well as fighters that gave Wlad problems in the past. Lamon Brewster 6'0 and a half around 235 pounds, good hooker, aggressive at times, iron chin, and mentally tough as well, Sam Peter 6'0 and a half, around 250 pounds, highly aggressive, good chin, very powerful. Tyson was everything these guys were, and then some. A prime Tyson was extremely aggressive, very powerful, amazingly fast handed for a Heavyweight, unbelievable killer instinct, defensively solid, and had good footwork.

Tyson had all 3 things needed to give Wlad trouble, a great chin, very powerful, and most importantly, he was aggressive. We have already seen Wlad have alot of difficulty against pressure fighters (Brewster, Peter) Tyson would come out guns blazing, looking to crack Wlads delicate chin and weak pysche. I see Tyson making him panic early after catching him with a picture perfect left hook, Wlad then clinches Tyson, and after the ref breaks them up, Tyson continues to pressure him and catches him again with the hook forcing Wlad to take a knee and after another flury on Wlad against the ropes the ref waves the fight off and Wlad melts to the canvas like a ice cube in hot soup.

 

2 rounds, tops.

A "prime" Tyson would have really really hurt Wladamir Klitschko... badly.

 

You're kidding right? Sheeez, I hope so or else you just lost 99% of your credibility.

I saw EVERY single Tyson fight in his "prime" and Wlad would have been knocked out COLD within 2-3 rounds. Trust me. I know you are a Wlad fan and that's fine... but he wouldn't have stood a chance in hell v.s. Iron Mike back then. Period.

 

Peter didn't give Wlad troubles. He swept 95% of the fight.

I think Brewster has a better chin and more heart than Tyson.

The only traits that have troubled Wlad are an iron chin, an iron will, and a hard hitting left handed southpaw. Tyson has none of the 3.

Tillis, Green, etc... all extended the fight against a "prime Tyson." Wlad has better footwork, offensive skill, hugging, etc... than any of those fighters.
