Let’s be honest Zelfa got beat last night the blueprint has been set how to beat him if you pressure him he just simply can’t hand it IMOP something in that gym isn’t working in Aurthers last fight he was on his back foot all night and against a better fighter he would of been stopped then you have Zelfa against Ronnie Clark who was a pressure fighter at an area level who beat Zelfa and almost stopped him and against the Irish lad lost every round up to the KO then an old Kiko absolutely beat him last night with pressure and like Aurther he was on his back foot all night And it clearly isn’t working for Pat’s fighters
I don’t think anyone debated Zelfa lost, I don’t think anyone debated Zelfa would ever go on to be a great either. He’s always had a ceiling of European level, he will do well to reach that. That being said, a (second) loss isn’t everything for him (even if it doesn’t show on his record). He can still have a decent career and earn a living.
Be interesting to see what happens when the board order him v sharp in final eliminator for British title again
I heard that Hearn was planning to put Joe Cordina against Barrett when Cordina wins a World Title Manchester Arena potentially. Barrett is a good fighter, just not a World-Level one, nothing wrong with that.
Cording would stop Zelfa within 8 rounds simply because Zelfa is not that good if we’re totally honest I also think he is being coached wrong Pat is a very good talker on camera I’ve been there and watched his coaching and it’s not the best when one of his fighters does something wrong he really shouts at them instead of explaining where they are going wrong I think Pat has to many distractions out of the gym
Some good points. I think the main problem with Zelpha, was that his jab was almost completely ineffective in slowing Kiko’s march and for some reason he barely threw the right hand. It was very easy for Kiko to track his man down as Barret was so left hand happy, he was very predictable. Having said that, as we’ve seen when he can land it, there is some good pop in the shot, and if he can work on the weaknesses, I would think he will beat Kiko in a return. In regards to Lyndon Arthur, I’m in the minority, but I thought Yarde won that fight and it was more down to Anthony’s poor tactics / attitude that lead to him losing the decision. Lyndon does have a good jab, but take that away and there is nothing much left- certainly not at a higher level anyway.
No great surprise. Not turned out well for Liam Smith either. BJS will get his cash out fight and that’ll be him too.
Mad to think that Cordina hasn't fought since November 2019. Barrett is domestic level and there's no shame in that as mentioned a few times on this thread. He's got a great dig on him which makes his fights interesting to watch but he needs to set the range to land that money shot. If an opponent can keep him busy on the inside and force him onto the backfoot it really stifles his ability to let that shot go and he looks very average.
As a headline show ? Eddie bit optimistic even by his standards with that fight at an arena that size , not exactly house hold names are they !
The thing about Barrett is he is very delusional. Listen to his clips on insta or his interviews he's always saying how skilled he is, knows how great he is, how he requires two sparring partners each session to do two round in and out repeat so each chance to recover so they can come in fresh because that's the levels he's at etc etc all egotistical stuff But then he's constantly avoiding real challenges and constantly being matched in fights where he's a 10/1 on favourite minimum and he proceeds to have life or death struggles with them. I think he will get chinned soon as he fights a real opponent
Pat has done an excellent job with the kid no doubt about that. The kid is in top shape and is in the mix. He lost the fight simple as that but is it the worst decision I have ever seen? No. It's boxing, it happens and will continue to happen in this bent sport. Zelfa will go on and maybe get to a European level, which for his ability is about his ceiling. But i have seen worse in my time go on to get world title shots, so who knows? Its a funny old game.
