No i don't agree I explained my view above It ended up as good matchmaking for viewers sure Not Hearn or Warrington, im sure you can separate the two scenarios
I can see it but it's hard to argue that the #1 fighter in the world can me mismatched. In theory the #1 fighter in the world should be able to fight anyone. Yes his been inactive but who exactly should he have been matched against? Nobody was saying prior to last night this was a bad fight for Warrington and his being stitched up with the opponent.
Warrington being out for so long didnt appear to be taken in to consideration Also why would anyone say it was a bad match up No body knew who the hell he was to judge him And Matchroom and Warringtons team appear to have done a poor job there From a business point of view, he should have fought a British fighter that he could announce his future intentions with once he won Not an unknown quantity, who can punch hard for the weight That appears to be the only thing that acknowledged when scouting him That he can punch It makes no odds to me Was a nice surprise in terms of a contest But everyone involved from Hearn to Josh and his team messed up here He really is no longer the number 1 He gave that claim up recently
But that's the main point isn't it that team Warrington thought the opponent was a good fight for Warrington. They would have been given options and they picked Lara. It's not like Warrington would have been forced to fight him. He and his team thought it was the right opponent after the layoff. Clearly it was a lot tougher than they imagined but the blame for the defeat is only on the guy in the ring. This isn't a guy who was put in with someone and was out of his depth.
You believe that thought it was a good fight for him? I think they thought it was a breeze and a nice easy comeback type fight Its not just on Warrington though Ill put money on it if they fight again Warrington loses Sometimes a fighter just has anothers number I believe that to be the case I'll keep my stance that everyone played a part here
Well if not they would have picked someone else. Hindsight says it was the wrong pick and yes you are right sometimes a fighter just has the number of his opponent no matter what. Barerra vs Junior Jones was a great example of that but look what happened after. Barerra losing twice to Jones didn't end his career. For me Warrington losing is just part of the sport. His not the first guy to lose to someone unexpected and won't be the last. That's fighting.
The get out of jail, passing of the Buck to these voiceless officials allows all this shite to happen.it really wouldn't be hard to fix the problem if the powers that be really wanted to.
How does that happen you ask? It's the arrogance of Hearn, and some boxers to be fair. I like Warrington, but he's fought a shot Frampton, looked poor against Galahad and fought someone else over 18 months ago. The lad he fought last night has been fighting in that time. Say what you will but Warrington was rusty and probably believed his own hype. The Kaiser Chiefs weren't there to help either.
yes. It was meant to be a tick over fight leading to PPVs etc and he got beat up badly, they didn’t do their homework and it was bad matchmaking, there is a million other factors but ultimately it was bad match making
If Warrington beat Lara in a round “typical one-sided matchroom main event, Eddie mugging people off with these awful fights.” Warrington loses fight to Lara, “Eddie hasn’t got a clue about matchmaking it’s embarrassing.” Hearn literally can’t win haha loss was completely down to Warrington, he went toe to toe with a puncher when he should’ve been looking to box and outwork him.
Well no of course it wasn't his intention for a big name fighter to get hammered in a supposed warm up! But all this "it was irresponsible etc", maybe you could say he should have had a much lighter touch as a tune up to can zu, but no one was really saying that before hand. Just think it's mad to moan on one hand about one sided shows, then also moan on a show with upsets.
No one knew anything about Lara so how could they say anything? Whos moaning? I enjoyed the card, just stating some people made mistakes business and career wise
How many times do we see our best fighters fall for the 'nice man' act before a fight? Imo a fighter needs to go in the ring with the mindset that his opponent wants to take everything away from him. People wondered what was wrong with Joshua when he fought Ruiz...he was disarmed by the nice guy act. He went in too relaxed and not with the mindset prepared for a war. Whyte was totally disarmed by Povetkin to the point that he was almost pedestrian and when he had the chance to close the fight he didn't have that finishing mindset. Hatton got nice guyed by Pac...admittedly Pac was/is on another level but I don't believe that was a hungry Hatton. Then we get Warrington on Saturday. He ended up really pally with Lara. He wasn't in the mindset of battle. It was all smiles and touching gloves but Lara was willing to go to war to win.
Good points m8 completely agree.I watched the Warrington fight again(non inebriated) and the constant glove touching nods of appreciation and smiling at the end every round he's losing tells you he wasn't prepared for what was coming back at him imo.think he thought he could just blast his way out of trouble and got chinned.
