I'm going with Cerdan on points here but Corro who beat Valdez twice could very well nick it. Thoughts?

I'll say Cerdan. Valdez was ancient in those fights.

Cerdan had that crowding, crashing style and Vito showed that was exactly the way to fight Corro as opposed to laying back and being picked off.

Marcel Cerdan was a lot tougher, as a very talented poster eluded to, Rodrigo Valdez was a battle worn fighter, he had two losing wars to Carlos Monzon, and looked terrible winning the vacant title over Bennie Briscoe. Hugo Corro was at the right place at the right time when he outpointed Valdez in 1978, Cerdan would not let Corro fight at ring center, but instead he would maul and brawl him into the corners and ropes, Hugo would feel as though he was suffocating. Marcel fought tough fighters in Tony Zale and Jake La Motta, who were at the top of their game. Cerdan by unanimous decision in 15 rounds.
