Marciano, Dempsey, Holyfield, Haye wouldn't be able to knock him out? That's a huge stretch. There's a reason there are weight classes in boxing.
Not according Able Sanchez...he says that Kovalev avoided GGG in training etc when he had them both at the gym...
Total crap as usual, you class me as a GGG hugger & I have clearly put Atur would demolish GGG after he warmed up on Canelo!!
Even under 168lbs is on the bold side, under 200 is ridiculous. Just from the active rosters, if, say, Beterbiev and Golovkin fought ten times, they would each get KTFO x5. That doesn't even get into super middles, light heavies, and cruisers from all-time. You seriously don't think the Jinx would do in GGG? A guy that was visibly hurt at least a few times by Jacobs and Canelo?
Mostly agree with this. GGG's greatest attribute, IMO, was not his power but his chin. I think Hagler would have the least chance of those you mentioned...he was a bit smaller than GGG. I think GGG STOPS everyone you mention, except for Hagler (who decisions him) and Roy (who would definitely decision him and very possibly stop him).
First, GGG has a great chin. There's no question about that. I can't think of a middleweight or super middleweight I've seen that I would pick to KO him. But I find it a little difficult to say this chin would have stood up to hard punching light heavyweights, cruiserweights and heavyweights under 200. Could he survive against the Spinks Jinx, cruiserweight Evander Holyfield? Maybe, but I don't feel like I have a basis for saying so since he never fought at those weights. I feel exactly the same about Hagler. He had one of the greatest chins I've ever seen. But how he would have done at 175, I have no idea. I remember he was asked about that when he was champ. He said it didn't make any sense to move up and fight guys who walk around at 200. He called Spinks or Mustafa Muhammad (or both maybe) "heavyweights who can make the light heavyweight limit." While it's interesting to think about these guys moving up in weight, I'm kind of grateful that GGG and Hagler stayed around the same weight much of their careers. Their status as great middleweights might be less clear if their title fights were split among 160, 168 and 175.
Eubank Sr took shots off Thompson for 12 rounds twice without going down yet Thompson knocked Haye out and Eubank started his career at 160.
What's that got to do with your question? Anyone can get stopped, if they fight long enough, don't prepare well enough or bite off more than they can chew, including your beloved GGG - he's just a man, a VERY tough man but just a man all the same. He may happen to have a thicker skull or bigger temporalis muscle (acting like a natural shock absorber) that Hagler is alleged to have that make him harder than the average man to KO but I'm fairly sure, Gerald McLellan, Bob Foster, Michael Spinks, Rocky Marciano, and loads of other heavier guys weighing under 200 pounds have a chance to stop GGG, as tough as he is. Wayne McCulloch also had a helluva chin. You reckon he could take the punch of a KO artist 40 pounds heavier than him? Say Hearns or Julian Jackson? There is a reason why we have weight classes.
Bold statement considering he only fought 3 decent middle weights and never even considered moving up
