McComb’s problems became apparent after 4 rounds or so. Stylish boxer but no power and clearly the fitness was lacking for the style that he wants to use. If you’re going to box with your hands down and use sharp counters whilst on the move, you have to have a really good engine ala Malinaggi, Selby (both) and on the greatest pedestal, Mayweather. McComb looked really good whilst he was fresh, but as his shots carry little stopping power Gwynne was able to carry on trudging forward. Eventually Sean couldn’t keep him off and even though Gavin doesn’t carry big power himself, he was able to just land at will and gradually start beating McComb up who’s hands down style meant he was just leaning forward with no guard up and getting pinged with hooks and uppercuts.

Not going to get dragged into a quitting debate this time though as I previously, if McComb had had enough and knew he wasn’t going to win then that’s his decision to end the bout. Whether it was him, his corner or the referee the writing was on the wall at that point.

    Agree with your analysis.

The thing I just found commical the amount of Irish MTK fighters going double footed at Dubois in November then ass licking McCombe last night was hilarious.
