Power punches count for more in scoring. No robbery occurred.

yes, to me this is where Briggs won the fight. At the end of the day it’s all opinions and I guess it depends on what you like/appreciated more.

Foreman is clearly the aggressor the whole fight. The big question is how “effective” was his forward plodding stalking behind his jab largely. Or the cleaner harder crisper punching of Briggs.

I guess if you are a fan of punch stats George landed 5 or so more punches per round...Briggs in the flip side landed 4 or so more power punches per round. Do you like the busier jab of George or the cleaner punching of Briggs?

Neither guy really “won” this fight by virtue of asserting their will. Briggs corner I thought did a poor job...but Briggs did a poor job of following advice as well. Jab jab follow with the right. He just didn’t listen. Why didn’t they implore him to go to the body (HBO did, one thing they actually got right lol). The 8-10 body shots he actually lands were some of the best of the fight IMO. On the flip side George was very composed his body just could no longer follow up like he needed to in order to string some combinations together.

oh well not a robbery IMO, just another close fight that is called one.

Briggs was unable to beat the oldest and slowest Foreman that ever stepped into the ring.

50 year old George winning wasn't a good look for the sport. That the only reason the Cannon got the victory

I feel that sums this fight up succinctly

Maybe. For the record Foreman was 48, approaching 49, not 50.
It was just said that the cursory analyses (that only explained why one guy won his rounds, & did not even describe who won which of the last ones) would have everyone insulting No Neck.

That is untrue. So many like me just disagreed politely. But he was sarcastic & petty to me.

Still looking at the final round can at least help decide which of different folk's beliefs about who actually did what is correct.
Was it the last part of the round was enough to overturn most of it?
DID Briggs land clean excellent punches or not?

Umm, you came barreling out of the gate accusing me of being biased. The point of the thread is to show nobody got robbed, not that Foreman kicked ass in X round.

well I can’t speak for NN who scored 12 for Briggs. I had 11 for Briggs and 12 for George. I felt like both rounds were close enough that I would not protest if someone split it the opposite, or even both for either guy. I did feel like George controlled the early part of round 12 and Briggs came on strong at the end. Was that enough to score it for Briggs? Not on my card but I can see why someone would.

Now I said on my card I felt there were 5 close rounds. If I gave all 5 to Briggs I would have 117-111 (one judge did 117-113) if I gave all 5 to George I would have George 116-112.

to me there were only 2 wide rounds that are one sided 6 for Briggs and 8 for George off of the top of my head.

I don’t like or rely on punchstats but if I did George lands about 5 punches extra per round (I know that is not an accurate rd by rd depiction because he won a couple of rounds landing double digits more...so the other rounds had to be less per round by average of maybe 2) Briggs lands about an extra 4 power shots per round (hyperbole really as neither guy was hurt or landed good enough to do damage).

was the aggression of George (who clearly dictated tempo and forced the fight) effective or just aggression? The latter for me but I guess it comes down to you preferences when scoring fights.

I didn’t score it live but remember thinking George had won (perhaps the commentary gave me that perception? Commentary has a huge affect on human beings...just watch the MSM on both sides of the aisle lol). Sitting down to rescore it (was not a terrible fight, but not fun either...) neither guy really took enough chances to win this fight as much as it seemed both guys tried to do enough not to lose.

I don’t think I referenced George’s age? But either way his age showed up. He was not able to string combos together outside of maybe 2 rounds. He still had his composure and calmness, he was not ruffled at all he just couldn’t sustain his combos.

I wouldn’t call this a robbery on a rescore...with 5 rounds IMO that are close you open yourself up to wide verdicts

4 points sounds like a lot...but in essence it is a 2 round shift. Did you feel that there were any close debatable rounds? Or do you feel George convincingly won all 8 rounds you scored for him?

to me there were 2 decisively won rounds 1 for each guy (Briggs 6 George 8)

5 clear rounds, but not decisive in anyway by virtue of ineffectiveness on both guys (Briggs 1, 7, 10 and George 3, 4)

with 5 debatable tough to score rounds (If you give all 5 to George you get 116-112 your score...if you give them all to Briggs and/2 even you get the card the Judge gave 117-113 for Briggs). I guess if you give them all to George like Ledderman did and score largely on aggression (irrespective of whether it was effective aggression) I can see why you would call it a robbery...I just don’t see it from this fight.

At the end of the day these are all opinions, I am just curious if you feel George won all 8 rounds clearly or if there were any that were tough to score?

I can at least respect you being consistent. Many on this forum grabbed their pitch forks and insisted Golovkin won due to controlling the pace with his jab and landing more of them.

I rewatched the fight and scored 116 - 112 Foreman. It confirmed my view that this was a decisive won for George. I think I only gave rounds 6,7 10 and 11 to fhe Canon

of those 8 rounds were any of them close? Or debatable? Or did George win all 8 clearly?
