He was never nicking that fight on points in a month of Sunday’s no matter what tactics he adopted! Like Tony Jeffries said he not ready for that fight the draw he had over in the states proved that ! It might of been billed 50/50 in hindsight which Is easy to see after it happens , it was bad match up a lot of people got carried away with the hype and the so called potential he has shown .
Boxing has changed and fighters are pushed a lot quicker these days but Kelly resume is very weak.
But i bet Kelly is comfortable in life probably got a nice big house paid for nice car few quid put away , good luck to him but if he was ever to become a possible world champ or mixing it at that level you need to be guided much better than he has IMO.

I was quoting Safin's post. Your tone is patronising and condescending. You have absolutely no evidence that he's indirectly killed people, that's a presumption on your part.

Instead of talking down your nose at me, perhaps you should take the time to express your concerns to Sky, BT, Matchroom...and pretty much every other boxing medium that gives him a voice.

If anyone goes to prison for importing or dealing class a drugs of course there responsibly for a number of deaths surly even you can acknowledge that, also if Fury did pay back £1m that proves he was one - is of the major drug dealers in the northwest, you still haven’t answered my question regarding one of your children dieing of a drug overdose, the reason I keep replying to this thread is I feel so strongly about scumbag drug dealers making millions from other peoples misery

What drugs was he involved in, and how much of it?

You seem to think I condone drug dealers. To my knowledge he has served time due to drug related crimes. He's now been a free man for quite some time in which he's trained a few fighters at world level. I've said several times about media outlets endorsing him and I've never once noticed you giving them grief for doing so. Instead, you're whinging at a couple of blokes on a boxing forum.

If Sky, BT and all the rest are satisfied that he's not the next Pablo Escobar and are happy to listen to his views and opinions then so am I.

You really are dumb, he’s been free for a number of years I agree but that doesn’t mean he’s still not importing and dealing it just means he not mean caught, Sky and BT are just as bad and the British Board Of Control for that matter, my original post was about why anyone should recommend a known drug dealer to Josh Kelly when there are plenty of class straight genuine coaches in Manchester, and again you still haven’t answered my question

For anyone interested in Peter Fury's past he goes into depth here (fascinating interview as usual)

He has served two jail sentences and paid a massive fine so he should be free to live his life. He is not involved in criminal activity now (as explained in the video by Peter).

You make good points mate regarding drug dealers and other good coaches.

Not a fan of Peter Fury myself as a coach but time to park the debate with Twentyman as we know boxing is riddled with people that the general public detest.

Seriously, chill out pal, anything good you have to say is getting completely ruined by the way you are coming across, there's no need for it.

He’s not going to admit on camera he’s still involved in drug importing and dealing is he ? You said he should be free to live his life ( try telling the parents of the children that have died that Fury has servered his time and should be able to live his life, this is my last reply on scumbag drug dealers good night

Like many people I picked Josh to win last night and although I wasn't at all shocked at the result (it was always a very tough fight) I was surprised how quickly and suddenly he unraveled in the 5th and 6th rounds.

He started so brightly, there was a lot less of the show boating and he was hitting Avanesyan with some great shots. What surprised me is how little pressure it took for him to start to struggle. I think he was not so much physically hurt, as tired and unable to cope with the pace and pressure of someone constantly coming forwards and cutting the ring off. John is a strong WW and young at 26, so again, was very surprising to see physically he did not cope well at all.

I'm not sure why weight would be such an issue at his age? He's a big welterweight but there are bigger and older fighters who make the weight ok. There is no evidence he does not live the life outside of the ring (that I'm aware of) and he has had an eternity to prepare for this fight so none of that points to weight being his biggest problem. Unless he just has truly awful stamina?

I think his biggest issue is his lack of genuine power, coupled with a style that needs power to be effective at top level and, in this fight specifically a lack of experience. He was too willing to trade, and fight on the inside. He should have kept moving and stuck to his jab. Avenesyan would have tired too at some point and then it would have got interesting, Josh never made it that far into the fight sadly.

In my opinion he was not 'brutally exposed'. Not at all. He lost a fight, that's all, and to a very good opponent too. 99.9% of fighters will lose at some stage, so no need to attach such a stigma to it.

I agree with this in terms of his power but judging by all of his previous fights and last minutes illnesses in my opinion he fell part
Victim to stugglimg at the weight.

he’s top notch for 5 rounds and then the weight cut gets to him. But they know he doesn’t have major power so panic if he’s fighting at 154 he will have zero power. For me at that weight his speed actually comes into its own even more. If he worked on his game and boxing fitness he could be josh Warringtonesque at 154.

For me the way to go with Kelly now is 2 journeyman fights. Then Connor benn match making for 4 or 5 fight in a slow step to world level. I do think there are some slight mentality issues there too that he needs to loose.

i would go from here up to super welterweight two journey Man, a random for commonwealth, eggington, cheeseman, Sergio Garcia, Jeff Horn then the likes of culcay or Williams and he will likely be a contender at 154 as I believe he beats all the above if he boxers
