Yes, the fight was very similar to Loma-Lopez. But Loma isn't a privileged Al Haymon fighter, that why the scorecards were so different.
I feel there is a lot of hate for broner. I'll start with the cards were **** minus 115-112 broner if you had broner losing 114-113 I'd say that's a fine score. but I'm almost surprised most people here had him losing. I feel that's a lot to do with wanting him to lose.
The judges were certainly on his side. This content is protected I don't hate Broner, I've always found him comical. But I hate seeing a poor Mexican fight his heart out and deserve to win, only to lose on the cards to a privileged Haymon boxer.
Of course there's a lot of hate for Broner not because of him as a boxer, even though he is/was very overrtaed but because he's a scumbag.
Broner does not throw enough punches to be a champion fighter. They are gonna hook him up with 2 more showcase fights that he will look like pure boo boo in and then he will fight Thurman. Watch and see. I wish Haymon would just feed him to Crawford and end Broner's suffering. He doesn't have any love for boxing anymore. December 2013 was the best Broner we were ever gonna see and he got his ass kicked but he was fighting like a man at the very least at the end.
I have trouble seeing a Broner win in there. I thought my 114-113 Santiago score was maximally generous to Broner. I will say the punch stats are way off, I don't think Santiago really landed all those punches.
Not surprised Broner got the win. Most fans and pundits prioritize head strikes far more than clean body punching.
If you're going to go for the whole "low economy of punches with high accuracy" thing (basically tryna be PBF) you had better keep your connects allowed stats - how often you get hit - negligible. Like, next to never (that is the only reason Floyd was ever awarded rounds and permitted to get away with his work rate and not take L's). ..and that boy Adrien Broner has never been anywhere near untouchable, not even when putting his mind to it. He just simply isn't good enough (defensively) for the style he chose.
Started ff'ing thru in the first round. All I saw was a lot of posing. And I can't stand these guys who have to yell every time they throw a punch. C'mon showtime you can do better then this nonsense
They don't care about fight quality per se; they care about viewership...and Broner still had a tiny bit of goodwill name value left they could milk. Probably the last drop. He's a spent commodity now.
True. But who wants to view a boring fighter like Broner. That's what he is, a boring fighter. And why is he allowed to fight with that huge beard. That is ridiculous. Gawd, boxing anymore
Please note I am a rare breed and find AB highly comical and was extremely hyped to see him taking training camp Seriously but then the BELL RANG
Broner deserved the win, barely. I had it 115-112 Broner, 114-113 either way is fine as well. But there's no reason to be screaming robbery. Santiago didn't do enough in the second half of the fight, and a few of the early rounds were competitive. And I say that as someone who is not fond of Broner or his antics.
