This is a really tough one. Both guys hit like mules kick. I’m going to go with Hamed because I’m slightly more versed in his fights than Little Red, but it was not an easy choice by any means
I’m giving the nod to Little Red, but honestly it’s one of those cases where: Does it matter? If either hit you with his Sunday punch you were probably headed to lala land. Ironically both had the habit of being rocked and knocked down early in fights, too. But the effortless thing there (which doesn’t mean harder) — Danny would land what looked to be an ordinary right hand and it somehow had more mustard on it and it was like a missile detonating on the opponent’s chin. Yet it didn’t look any different from a right he might have landed a couple rounds earlier that seemed to do no damage. Each was 126 pounds of you-don’t-want-none, as a friend of mine used to say.
So on point about his right hand shots looking all the same, but then out of no where, the opponent is concussed ! how strange...
Timing and punch mechanics - a bit like Arguello at times. With Naz, you always knew when he was trying to punch hard, the way he threw his weight into the punches not the mechanics of a fighter not looking to end a fight - with Danny, his punch delivery mechanics and balance meant that when he exploded, the punch itself looked similar to lesser landing/powerful/effective punches, but when you've got good hands and natural power and ability to land precisely, each punch itself carries the potential to end the fight. Taking clean power shots on the chin, temple, nose, wherever they land can have both a cumulative and a sudden effect depending on the chin of the opponent taking them. As the guy said about Drago, "Whatever he hits, he destroys!"
I really liked your description of the power of Danny Little Red Lopez right hand, it sure detonated on a lot of jaws.
Too close to call. I went with Lopez because of personal bias. They’re two of the hardest hitters I’ve ever seen at the weight.
