I'm not upset about Tarver returning to action; I follow him on social media so I know Milkdud has stayed busy in the gym in the several years since the USS Cunningham draw, both helping train his son but also hoping for one last viable lucrative comeback opportunity - but I am very confused as to wtf Mir is doing in this match-up. Pro debut versus a former champ? Even being an inch taller and over a decade older, this seems like he's bucking for a Darwin Award.
I used to follow Tarver on social media but I had to stop following him because the man is hella negative. Always complaining about not getting a fair shake, the system being rigged against him because no one would get him a fight, and this was just last year. Well, he finally got a fight. Best of luck to him.
even if tarver was getting off the couch for this fight he could still ktfo mir inside one if he wanted. this fight is even a worst idea than when they matched wwe stars against pro boxers.
A lot of boxers post far more obnoxious content, though. Steve Cunningham is up to his eyeballs in science-denying conspiracy theories, for instance.
I can deal with insanity for pure self entertainment and humor, but Tarver is just straight negative. I feel like he wasn't willing to put in the work to get to a real fight again, and had that aura of entitlement around him.. Like bro, you haven't done **** in seven years.
Ive only watched highlights of Paul but knowing what we know about askren and mirs striking i think both fights will be ugly especially for Mir with how bad his chin is
Mir had a glass jaw even in the early 00s. He's also slower than molasses. Even an old Tarver will make short work of him.
Now, if Dud had been sitting on his ass blowing up to near 300lbs in the last seven years, I might give Mir a chance to grind him down with clinches and haymakers. But nope.
Tarver was still decent at CW-HW in what 2015? Whenever that Cunningham fight was. Way too active for someone like Mir who was always slow, chinny and easy to hit even in MMA. Actually Tarver is still probably a speed demon compared to some of the guys who have stopped Mir. Carwin, Freeman just to name a few. Old Emelianenko was far too quick for him(tbf Fedor still had fast hands for an old geezer)
