Why is Canelo not getting more criticism for fighting Yildrim?

I wouldn't pay to see this fight but the highlight reel promises to be amusing. Is Yildirim going to faceplant or fall onto his back like a boiled spinach? Curious to find out. We should have a poll to see who correctly predicts how Yildirim is gonna take his nap.

I'll dump on him for having the judges in his pocket, all the gifts he's received from them, shamelessly ducking a closer to prime GGG like he had Ebola, ageing him out even more before he'll sign on the dotted line, and all the deck-stacking and weakening of opponents with catchweights, rehdration clauses and short camps, and cherrypicking a shot drunk after lying through his teeth to his fans that he was facing the best LHW in the world and then hightailing back down to a graveyard division after instead of unifying against the 'weaker' champions in it, but I'm not going to dump on the guy for accommodating his mandatory.

Maybe but he is mandatory and it’s sanctioned so he has to fight him. Simple as that.

No fighter should deserve criticisms for staying active. This isn't one of his marquee fights per year. This is a fight between a fight.
Nothing wrong with that. More guys should be doing it..Too many part time boxers in the sport currently.

I'm taking a bit of stick for my post, I will have to address it, I haven't ignored everybody on this thread.

Oh and I actually believe Canelo lost the first fight against Golovkin, you have no arguments about that from me, the second could have gone either way.

And I gave Canelo barrels of abuse for the failed test, tons, I'm not exactly a huge fan.

Ok I will put it like this... at the time he fought Golovkin what other 160 fighter should Canelo have faced?

He fought the man most people wanted him to fight, Canelo wins the second fight and now Golovkins age is a problem and other things thrown in, but like I say who else at 160?

Same at 168, Smith was regarded by the vast majority as the best 168 fighter, I personally thought and still think Smith is ridiculously overrated but it is what it is... who else should Canelo have fight at 168?

And again, at 175 Kovalev wasn't exactly a soft touch for a man moving up in weight, the fight was a tough fight for anybody moving To 175, I don't know what people actually want.

To me, it always seems the same, the majority want a fighter to fight certain fighters in the hope they lose, they fight those fighters and win and then it's "He needed to fight him instead" and just move the goal posts.

I remember people saying Kovalev was too big, too strong, to much of a beast and he did give Canelo problems, he was ahead in my opinion at the time of the KO but as said.. Canelo knocked him out and now it's not a very good win at 175.

If Canelo should have gone another path, with different opponents at the times of these fights then I'd love to here about it.

CA may have a boring personality but it evidently doesn't matter. They're probably the most supportive fanbase you'll ever see.

Its a mandatory fight 2 months after he fought the number 1 guy at 168, and 2 months before he fights the arguable number 2 guy at 168.

Its hard to please some people!

I've got to the point where I think everyone who supports Canelo has some serious cognitive problems... The **** he does is so blatant and obvious but it goes straight over their heads

Because by May he will have fought 3 times in 6 months. Who else is doing that?

Again, you can argue "who else could have Canelo fought?" all day...but the context clearly demonstrates that Canelo is cherrypicking, match fixing toerag.

Smith and Kovalev were safe fights for Canelo due to certain conditions he used against them (and cherrypicking). Again, as a result this is not tough opposition, and therefore there is no real reason to justify Canelo having an easy tune up mandatory with Yildrim (who doesnt deserve a place in rankings let alone as a mandatory challenger). It's really not that hard to understand.

GGG fight was only taken at the right time for Canelo... Aka when his team thought he'd slow down enough for Canelo to have a chance.. That's why Canelo fought a 35/36 year old GGG. Youre going through all the mental gymnastics in the world here, but objectively, Canelo is a cherrypicker who has fabricated the illusion of him taking tough fights.

GGG fighting him between Smith and BJS would be a big step up from what he's doing.

Who else could he have fought at those times that would have been better?

Very simple question and should be very simple answers if you believe he is cherry picking.. because surely there would be much better fights to have.

Anybody can pick holes in any fighter if they really want to.. that's all you're doing.

Just tell me who at those times should Canelo have fought?

So how many people here criticising canelo had a problem with ggg fighting brook, rolls, vanes or szeremeta? Asking for a friend.
