It's kind of strange how Arum thought he had a star with Lomachenko, who is a soft spoken Ukranian without much power, but so far isn't treating Lopez like a star, who is a power punching American who loves to talk.
Lomachenko was a three division world champion with an insane amateur pedigree. Lopez doesn’t possess any of those things. Even Lopez win over Lomachenko has widely been described as Loma giving away the first six rounds, not Lopez dominating Loma. Now, I’m not trying to take anything away from Lopez, he fought a great fight and has consistently risen to the challenge, but with Loma’s background and quick accomplishments (world champion in his second fight) are you really surprised? Arum doesn’t care about anyone not named Arum nor does he care about anything that isn’t money. Friendship to Bob Arum means that for two dollars he’d hit you over the back of the head with a pool queue until you had detached retinas.
I was a big Loma fan and Lopez for some reason rubs me the wrong way but this "Loma giving away the first six rounds," is BS. It doesn't matter how anyone wants to justify it but Loma simply lost at least 5 of the first 6 rounds and went pretty much even the second part of the fight.
Americans do not care much about am backgrounds. Lomachenko had fought about eight fights under pro rules before he “turned pro.” Lomachenko also lost his “second” pro fight. He didn’t win a title in that fight. Between the two, Teofimo possesses the best win, all of the spectacular knockouts, and the zero.
Because Lopez has attitude and does not like being told what to do (ie getting robbed out of big money fights) and Arum can't control him.
Why is a 90 year old man so greedy and hungry for money. You would think somebody nearing the end of their lifespan would want to enjoy their massive wealth and relax and kick back. But Arum still fighting for every last penny. What's he got? An expensive hooker and crack addiction?
Loma was easy to work with. Lopez is a nightmare. The only reason Loma vs Lopez got made was because of Loma.
