Please, Danny F'in Jacobs. Have you watched any of his fights from GGG onwards? He fights completely negative and almost doesn't try to win. Charlo would utterly starch Danny jacobs in the ring. Charlo has a killer mentality. Serious power and always finds a way to land his best shots. He'll come forwards and bring heat as long as he's standing. But no, we'll be treated to another fight against a hopeless Brit. Then we'll line up Caleb Plant who's fought three consecutive tomato cans.
The main reason he isn't taking much criticism is because he last fought only 2 months ago. If he fights again in May and then sometime later this year it’ll be 4 fights inside a calendar year. Now if this Turkish bum was his only scheduled opponent for the entire year it wouldn’t go over well.
I think the Charlo Canelo should fight is Jermell, not Jermall. Jermell is more explosive and has a more exciting style, I think he would make a great fight with Canelo. Jermall vs Canelo would be OK but not as fun and exciting of a match as Jermell vs Canelo. Also Jermell clearly wants that smoke - This content is protected
The fights were good fights. I'd love to see another good fight. It's literally why I'm a fan of the sport.
Objective AND knowledgeable fans did not view Smith and Kovalev as the best in their weights when they fought Canelo. The fighters with the most legitimate claim to those accolades were Benavidez and Beterbiev. Beating Plant in September, which I think he will do, moves Canelo in the right direction towards a fight with Benavidez. Will he take it?
Tell me who Benavidez has beaten to make him number 1 at that time? How did Benavidez get on in the WBSS? I must have missed him. Smith was Ring Magazine number 1 also, held more than one belt.. look, what you think may happen doesn't mean it's actually happened, Benavidez has to prove it, has to do it, has to win it, Beterbiev, yeah maybe, some would say Bivol.. it is debatable. Kovalev in my opinion has the best resume and was/is more proven. I see how it works.. if Canelo had fought and beaten Benavidez then everybody would be saying "Smith is the number 1, he is ring Magazine champion, couple of the major belts, unbeaten...". Blah blah blah. It will always be somebody else, if Canelo beat Beterbiev then everybody would shift to Bivol, but you can just keep moving the goalposts, it's you're opinion and you're entitled to it, it's not that deep.
That’s the point of being the champion, king of the hill. Everyone wants to be the top dog. Are you suggesting a champion should not face the best challenges? Excuse me but I’m just a bit confused here. Maybe I just don’t understand the concept of being a champion.
Where do you think I have suggested a champion shouldn't fight the best? I'm saying, opinion is sometimes divided and some people just hate and will never give some fighters the credit they deserve.. For example, let's imagine the majority agreed Benavidez is the number one and Canelo went and beat him, you'd see the same people saying "doesn't mean anything really, BJS is the real number 1" Do you get what I'm saying? Sure things change, when a fighter gets beat there's always another fighter behind him but I'm saying at the time those fights happened I believe Golovkin, Smith and Kovalev were regarded as the best in their divisions.. if you look at resumes, belts, achiements, I think it's a fair comment.
****ing joke of a fight. Yldrim ***** arse needs his purse witheld. Canelo fighting Saunders next is also a **** fight. Plant and Benevidez are the guys Canelo should be fighting.
100% agree, Yildrim shouldn't be paid immediately, they really should withhold his purse and there needs to be an investigation and reasons given for his complete lack of performance and the reason for stopping the fight. It's such a bad look for boxing, even if they pay him afterwards, at least require a explanation and ask a few questions. IF, IF, IF Yildrim had come out from the first bell and went full tilt for two rounds, like a crazy man, then got caught in the he third, was blown out and hurt.. OK, poor, awful but at least he had a swing, at least he would have given it a go. Yildrim did NOTHING, he stood there like a moron, plodded around, let Canelo tee off after 9 minutes thought "naaahhh I've already secured the money, I've turned up, been a few rounds, I can't win, Im off" That fight could have done boxing so much damage, it could have damaged the reputation of boxing damage, it did the WBC damage because of the way mandatory challengers are chosen and they said they will review it and it may have the change The only positive, it has been glossed over quite a lot, the BJS News has overshadowed the complete lack of effort, disgusting attitude and lack of respect for boxing from Yildrim and his team. I'm so angry about it today, more than I was when I watched it and I was calling for him not to be paid immediately afterwards.
This is true, but in the same breath these guys need to earn their shots at Canelo. Fight the other guys that validate a fight with Canelo rather than running behind him hoping for a winning lotto ticket..... And to the question posed in the Op why should he be criticized more? He's a unified champion at 168 following being a unified champion at 160, this fight is sandwiched in between 2 championship fights and is just 2 months after his previous fight. Who else out there is doing this right now? I agree it will always be someone with Canelo detractors. If he built a time machine and went back to ko Sugar Ray Robinson you guys would just say he ducked Joe Louis....
