You’re probably right. I’m not a Canelo fan, nor a hater. I just want to see good fights. There are really only a handful out there for him under 175.
If Golovkin trusted his chin and got his strategy right, I still think he has the best chance of beating Canelo at 160 or a catchweight.... You can’t jab and counter, you have to rush him like Hagler did Hearns, give up the head to defend the body thereby neutralizing his best weapon and taking him way out his comfort zone. Nobody else has the chin, power, experience and motivation to pull that off (Benavidez has the power though).
(Errol Spence is the one). At 160 Jermell gives the biggest challenge to canelo’s work rate / stamina. He still fights in spurts like he always has to conserve energy for championship rounds. I think I skilled puncher who initiates exchanges would be able to upset canelo’s rhythm and pacing.
I agree at 160 Jermell would give Canelo a hell of a fight. He'd lose rounds like he did vs Harrison, but he has the explosive punching to possibly land a big shot on Canelo. I'd say Jermell Charlo (not Jermall) might have the best chance of actually hurting Canelo and having a chance to get a stoppage. And frankly I just think that match would produce fireworks. Spence at 160, it's unclear how he would perform at higher weights but certainly has the frame and skill to give Canelo problems. Spence might have the best chance of winning a decision vs Canelo, but wouldn't have much of a chance of hurting or stopping Canelo.
we're seriously in danger of going too far with Canelo yes there are signs of greatness there, but this nut hugging has to stop he's only a man, not some kind of super human god
1) Benevidez 2) BJS Don't think anyone else is the list could challenge him, GGG is probably just too old now.
the talent pool between 160 and 175 is very thin If they're all going to spend fight week talking about how great Canelo is then pushing out the weakest slowest non-commital jabs from the first bell then no one is going to beat him for a while. Forget all the established names, it's going to take a young hungry fighter that isn't jaded by the politics, someone raw like Berlanga (not saying him in particular) that just says **** it and actually shows no respect and turns up to fight
His strategy was fine for first two fights, as he looked like the winner before score cards were announced. They are 1-1 at the worst.... But, GGG is aging fast and not fighting anyone of note.....his last outing was as bad as Yildrim fight.....and he never fought at 168 either. Doubtful Canelo will drop to 160....anyone fighting him will have to meet him at 168 from now on. GGG should go up to 168 and fight someone like Plant then there will be enough outcry to make the 3rd fight. Either way they should make the 3rd fight sooner than later.
Ggg would best him again in a close fight like he did already in the first two. And gets robbed a third time
Benavidez can't make 168 anymore, Charlo gets overwhelmed at 168, GGG is past it, Saunders hasn't had a good effort in years ,Andrade? decent fight and Bivol is nowhere to be seen... of the fighters on the list I'd say Plant could trouble him. But I wouldn't bet on it.
