Monzon BIG! Especially with same day weigh-in rules. As others have noted Canelo would have a very difficult time keeping pace with Monzon who never seemed to tire. ( So much for modern training and it's ability to create super- men) after a few contested early rds Monzon's steady stream of hard jabs and right hands start to take effect around the 5th or 6th rd making Canelo hesitant, and get on his bicycle.
By the 11thrd Monzon rd it's all Monzon forcing the ref too stop the fight after a sustained battering of Canelo.

A relatively low-output style, susceptibility to strong jabbers, reach disadvantage, and penchant for taking some rounds off isn't a recipe to beat Carlos Monzon.

People seem to think that someone coming into the ring 20lbs heavier than their opponent doesn’t make a blind bit of a difference when comparing to past all time greats, it can often be the difference between winning and losing, you could see a slick counterpuncher giving Canelo issues weighing 160lbs in n the ring, but Monzon was neither of those thing, Canelo believe it or not would find out sooner or later that he doesn’t have to have much respect for Monzon’s punches and would be comfortably on the front foot landing body shots and combinations at will, I’ve seen it time and time again someone weighs significantly heavier than the opponent on the night and they don’t seem to be bothered by the punches, if Monzon was even 170lbs on the night, totally different story, but that’s just not the case, Monzon would be probably weighing in at 147lbs today and then rehydrating to 160lbs
Monzon today would be a huge puncher at 147lbs, but not at 260lbs against people weighing like 175lbs on the night

This ! and maybe that extra weight is the reason of Canelo's lack of endurance and lack of explosive punching power.
Some don't seem to get it just because a fighter is heavier doesn't automatically mean their going to hit harder, or be stronger. In most cases its the opposite.

Is Canenlo on PED;s and are the judges linked to Oscar De La Hoya? If so, I'm going with Canelo who has the faster hands and better defense.

Carlos Monxon would have never fought Canelo Alvarez in Las Vegas or the U. S, like I said before, he fought primarily in Monte Carlo, Monaco, Paris, France, and Rome, Italy. He lost a lot of money when he fought Tony Licata in Madison Square Garden in 1975, taxes ate up his purse. He could not be bought neither would his manager, Tito Lectoure, if Oscar even hinted this, he would have punched De La Hoya's lights out, too much pride in that man.

I’ll be the first to admit I dislike Canelo. But damn, he is a great fighter. I see it going the distance with a Monzon close UD over 12 or 15 rounds. Can’t see a stoppage.

If it happens in the US, Canelo comes in with a 20 lb weight advantage, gets outboxed but lands a few counters.

SD win for Canelo. His fans flood the forum arguing how only Monzon fanboys score jabs.

Frankly I think Monzon outpoints Canelo over the stretch. I don't think he stops him, in fact I'm sure of it. Golovkin landed heavy thunder on Canelo repeatedly and ginger lapped it up. I think it's a frustrating fight for Canelo trying to get grips with a really rangey and elusive opponent.

Carlos, like a few Argentinian's went for bigger money less income taxes, Europe loved Carlos and proud to say I am a fan. Oscar could not pay him or his manager, I am guessing De La Hoya could pay off Marvelous Marvin Hagler too, Oscar needs to mind his own affairs. But thanks for calling me a boy, I am 62 years old, Lol.

You misunderstood me. I was saying Canelo fans on this forum would be saying things like " Only Carlos fanboys score jabs." And I wish that was hyperbole.

As I believe Monzon would jab his ears off just as Golovkin did. I just don't think anyone can get a fair decision against Canelo. Even Mayweather got the shaft from one judge.

I did misunderstand you, but I was riding high all day of the fan boy comment, my friend. Your post is good
