Alexis Arguello vs Teofimo Lopez at 135 lbs, both prime, 15 rounds. Can Alexus use his size long left jab and very potent right hand to stop Teofimo? Can Lopez use his punching power that overpowered Lomachenko, and the strength to overcome the more experienced Arguello?
If Lopez reigns for 2/4 years, and defends against the best, then wins, I might ( just might ) give him a realistic chance of toppling " The Explosive Thin Man " so until then, will stick with Alexis to win, prob by late stoppage, or RSF, Keep well buddy, enjoy your posts.
Lopez doesn't get to do any of his fancy backflips or meme dances against Arguello, who stops him in the mid rounds. A broken down Loma didn't put any pressure on him, but Arguello absolutely would.
Teofimo is nowhere near the level of an ATG like Arguello. Give him a couple more years and wins over world class opponents and we'll talk. As is Arguello takes Lopez apart in brutal fashion.
Alexis Arguello would keep Teofimo Lopez at bay with his long left jab, studying his opponent in the early going at ring center. The aggressiveness of Lopez would play into the hands of Alexis. Nasty right hands connecting on the face of Teofimo would open up swelling and hideous bumps on the face of Lopez. Finding no answer to the toughness of Arguello, Teofimo starts to get desperate, attempting to attack the thin torso of Alexis, who spills Lopez to the canvas by way of a smashing right cross in round 11, for the full count.
I wouldn't be surprised at all if Teo won. The reason I say that is because Teo is the size of a large welter from back then, and Arguello didn't do especially well at 140. It's still to soon to say how good or limited Teo is though.
