A.J = laughable vs 41 y.o former champ and Wlad was former champ before he had A.J in the ring.
Not actual champ but 41 y.o FORMER champ.

It is a bit like Ali vs Holmes or Holmes vs Tyson fights. Too predictable.

I was disgusted at the time because I had money on Wladimir to win, and extra money down on him to win in rounds 6 to 9.
Fair play to AJ and it was a great fight, but Wladimir failed badly to close the show, round after round.

 

More or less true.
But much more competitive than Ali vs Holmes or Holmes vs Tyson fights !

 

Yeah and still.
A.J business champ for A.J fans and Al & eddie.

 

In one of the rounds (possibly this one) Vladimir threw a punch, AJ ducked it but it was an uppercut which bounced AJ back up right.

I particularly remembered it because AJ's face afterwards was just like "oh bugger".

 

It's a big reason why I don't see AJ as anything more than a good fighter. Going life and death with a 41 year old ATG, an inactive and beaten champion, at home? The young lion historically has dominated the old champion. Ali vs Holmes and Holmes vs Tyson were brutal beatdowns more than they were fights. If AJ was going to be a great you would expected him to have massacred pensioner Wlad but he only got the win because Wlad snatched defeat from the jaws of victory.
