Arreola cried and had a big nose after losing to vitali. He was on a really good run of wins up until that fight

This is true. Wilder has an equalizer, but 99 out of 100 times Vitali gets up and KOs Wilder. Vitali the possessor of a slightly lower KO % (87 vs Wilder's 93) also has the big eq and is far far stronger and far smarter than Wilder or anybody Wilder has faced.

True but there's still a surprising amount of idiots of would pick Wilder in that one.

Also for what it's worth the Arreola who fought Vitali would have an excellent chance at knocking Wilder out.

It would be a horrific night for the people of Tuscaloosa and and an even more horrific beating in store for the Tuscaloser and the only reason the later would be able to hang around long enough to absorb a beating would be because Vitali would want to punish him.

Arreola is right about Vitali being a very intelligent fighter. Vitali's ring IQ really stood out for me. It might have looked a bit ungainly but the way he was able to control his opponents was very impressive.

There were other decent HWs back then.. Byrd, Sanders, young Wlad, Liakovich, Brewster etc.. but for a time ye he was the best.. but when he retired the first time Vladimir took the throne and ran away with it, never needing to hand it back as he became a better fighter with age & the divisions dominant force .. Vitaly is a little underappreciated though… you gotta give him props, came back after years away from the sport at nearly 40, won the WBC belt & went on a long run of defenses.. he doesn't have the greatest resume but it was still a pleasure watching him dismantle fighters like Peter, Sanders, Williams and Briggs etc

Awful match up for Wilder. Vitali would be a nightmare for him. A tall intelligent fighter with a granite chin.
