Joshua is just dimensions above Wilder in skill and was able to put his punches together a lot better, beating molina down with ease. But even with all of that Molina himself claimed Wilder hit harder

This. While Denty clearly hits very hard some of it is a bit illusory because he winds up his punches so much - something he has gotten away with generally because of his low / elderly opposition are unable to capitalise on his wide open defence (Ortiz nearly got him out of there when he was winding up but was too old to finish the job)

True power is in the ko's via short punches that don't open up a defence significantly. Something Mike Tyson was so strong at.

Hard hitter for sure but overrated indeed.

Very good evidence. Spilka's chin is even worse than I thought. Another red flag when it comes to Wilder's knockout vs Spilka is that Spilka is not a real heavyweight, just look at his pointy tiny chin and small head.

But he couldnt claim he hit harder than Arreola. Flattening Zumbano Love with one punch was a good result, in like his 8th fight or something

I always worry guys like Spilka and Amir Khan will go to UFC claiming they're representing boxing, and then inevitably get slept in the octagon by some MMA meat head who punches like he's under water.

It depends, yeah, gradual damage without extra risk usually is preferable over wild fight. Unless ofc catch on counters etc.

Tyson from 1987/1988 was different level in plenty of aspects even vs Tyson from 90 ies, not alone vs Wilder.
Tyson from 80 ies moved like maybe 175 lber, had very good legs and hit like 215 lber. This is hell of package plus he was skilled damn well.
Power is not overrated but boxing skills yeah, overrated as hell.
Ofc Ortiz is technically better too than this guy. Ortiz just is SLOW!!!!!!!!!!! and old, that's it.

Wilder was never a fraud. Wladimir Klitschko was beaten humiliatingly by contenders 3 freaking times before Manny Stewart turned him into a safety first robot. Now he's considered an ATG heavyweight. Sounds like privilege to me.

How is about Canelo? His boxing record too does not looks ideal but no problems for western fans to call him p4p etc alike.

You wish we here might prepare in depth Canelo fight record in pro ranks.

Excellent post. I've being saying this for years. WIlder's power - like his ability to take a punch - is a fiction created by facing THE worst collection of stiffs and bums that a top level HW contender has faced on the way up in my 40 years of following boxing. And Wilder faced this atrocious level of opposition for MUCH longer, about 5 years into his career instead of the usual year or two, tops.

And even after this, as you have detailed, he faced handpicked mediocrities and old men, many of whom were carefully selected using two criteria 1) their inability to take a solid punch; and b) their reputations as light-hitters.

Wilder is a FRAUD and a JOKE. A totally manufactured fighter, one who got totally exposed as soon as he faced a top fighter in their prime.

So your point is all of his opponents tell the same lie, trainers too, and employ fight plans based on that lie in a conspiracy to be overrated themselves...ignore that his punches sound different and that they don’t have to fully connect to put opponents out cold...He’s a horrible boxer and undersized with little power yet ko’ s everyone and became HW champion because his opponents are overrated based on the conspiracy?

Fury getting up after fighting 11 rounds is proof that Wilder can't punch? How about, Wilder was able to drop a huge heavyweight in the 12th round. Ortiz, never stopped, Splitka, never been stopped like that, breazeal, never been stopped like that. Wilder producing highlight reel KO's 41 fights 40 knockouts and in your hatred, say that Wilder has the power of a bb gun? Either you are trolling or an idiot.

I think your reasoning is off. Kind of making wild assumptions like Ortiz having a worn chin from eating rights or Wilder's power becoming an 8 when he comes back. But you say it was a 10 while being overrated. Or that Fury had soaked up punishment when he actually didn't. Looks like you are all over the place.
