Olivares-Kanazawa II I always felt was on roughly the same level as Gomez-Pintor. That’s an underrated classic. Medel-Pimentel was a fine fight too with drama especially late. Gilroy-Caldwell, Rudkin-McGowan II also from around that time.
I like Olivares vs Kanazawa 2 but i dont rate it nowhere near Gomez vs Pintor. Kanazawa showed tremendous heart but other then a few moments here and there where Kanazawa fought back and had some success i thought it was for the most part a one sided beat down in favor of El Puas. Just my opinion though.
Erik Morales vs Wayne Mccullough. Non stop action. Morales could not put Wayne down, and Mccullough would not stop throwing. Some thought Wayne won it. Both fighters were prime
You were right, that was a damn war! Incredible! That was better than the entire past year of Hearn shows combined. Best amateur fight I've seen now. Thanks for sharing.
One underrated or forgotten fight was Sugar Ray vs Rocky Castellani. It was an important fight in history. It was for the right to face Olson. Robinson had lost to Tiger Jones and couldnt afford another. Close bout when Castellani decks Sugar hard, Ray falls on his face. Its a barn burner.
Foster/Finnegan; the fight that showed Foster had lost a step, but still gutted out the win to give more evidence of his greatness. And talking of Finnegans, and this sad day; brother Kevin two battles with Hagler should be bettered remembered.
Who you feel won that fight YT? Ill have to find if I wrote down a card. I have this feeling I thought it was a massive robbery. I used to really vibe of Ballas though. Maybe I was just looking to score it for him, it was a while ago. I think it was one of those fights I didn't watch all the way through the first viewing because I was interrupted.
