Who is the best modern heavyweight (90s and onward) that you would pick Rocky Marciano to beat?

Excellent and very well grounded analysis by those two.

Another congratulation for basic logic and well grounded common sense to Moontan and Paul Gallender at this point.

The whole argument is absurd really. Why? Because Marciano would not weigh 188 in 2000 and men like Wlad or Lewis wouldn’t weigh 240 in 1950. Push Marciano forward to 1990 and be weighs 210-220 push him to today maybe even 230. Wlad in 1950 weighs 200-220. So in reality if fighting on equal ground the weight disparity is negligible. If left alone as “is” Marciano would have the disadvantage of not being juiced up. So obviously he would be disadvantaged. Now skill set is a whole other animal. Only morons think Marciano was an unskilled oaf. You don’t beat three top ten p4p fighters ever if you’re not skilled at your craft. Marcianos style is the more important factor here. His style would allow him to be extremely competitive. In 1950 he beats them all imo. Post 1990 I see Lewis And Tyson beating him. Wlad and Holyfield would be interesting. Both lose on equal training grounds.

Well, here's the thing. Marciano at 220-230 would be a blob. Either that or carrying way too much muscle. Both are bad.
His legendary stamina would be gone, and he'd be as slow as molasses. An easy target for bigger, faster, longer guys.
Nah, I love Marciano to bits, but he was what he was.
I don't see him beating any rated guy. Maybe a few decent guys on the downside, maybe some middling heavies, but that's about it.

Janitor, I love you like a brother man, but I guarantee you would've been fine with the same exact analysis if the winner was switched.

I can't agree with rating Kockell over comeback Louis. No argument for it.

I'm aware of Shkor's record, and I also described him as a journeyman. Still, decent opponent.

And for the record, Louis was always fighting his way out of debt. You think he fought the most hellish schedule of any Champ in history for fun?

I doubt Holmes or Holyfield KO Shkor with ease because they rarely KOed anyone with ease. We've seen Holyfield at cruiser, he don't hit like Marciano despite being a more accurate sneaky puncher. Just not a meaningful analogy.

Just a quick point, Eddie Richardson wasn't 6'8. From what I can see from boxrec and other records he was universally recognized as being 6'6" (198cm). I've time-stamped the commentary below where they introduce his height.
