Yeh, I think you make a good point re Usyk ... possibly being a pre injury fighter and a post injury fighter. I've had shoulder issues and I've never felt 100% since and always have it in the back of my mind.

A.J. I kind of agree a bit. He needs some more wins against prime (in shape) top HWs.

 

Anthony Joshua & Deontay Wilder are closer physically to Lennox Lewis than to Golota

If Joshua comes in swinging from Round 1 both fighters will be down, in an exciting fight...Deontay Wilder showed Gallantry & disregard for life starting by is own, so if it gets unhealthy we can expect Joshua to take the count after giving it a try.

Wilder is faster, harder & ready to KO anybody by impulse....Anthony Joshua is the gentleman who discusses important life decisions with his fiancée, Mother & Amir Khan prior to making any move...

 

Also the Japanese imperial army would have finished the USA if they did to Washington D.C. what they did to Nanking...But the American Offensive kept them looking for their mouth peace...

Yeah, I saw that he just said in an interview that he's not training and drinking 10-12 pints a day. Either he's just making noise or he's looking for a way out, It's a very strange thing to say when everyone else is saying that it's all agreed and just needs to be signed.

 

I’ve said it before, Tyson Fury may be looking to honour his contract with 2 other fights, allowing him to do the Joshua fights as a free agent. I’m guessing that having 2 fights this year is part of his contract, but how much power does Fury have in the matter?

 

If he is looking for a way out not to fight Joshua, it has to put down as a duck, nothing less.

Can you imagine the hounding Joshua would get on these boards if it was him saying these things instead?

It gets everyone talking about Tyson Fury, that's all.
He's obviously joking about the beers and he slipped up and admitted he's sparring, so he's obviously keeping in some sort of training.

Whether the fight is about to be announced or not, I'm not sure. I'm hopeful that it will be next week, and perhaps that's why Fury has come out and done some interviews.

 

But no one would believe Joshua if he said he was drinking 12 beers a day and not eating or training.
When Fury says it, even now, people think 'that sounds true', even when it's clearly not.

 

The worrying thing is NOT what Fury has said, it's what the promoters have said ;

"Everything agreed ...... except location ! ...... and date ?!"

LOCATION and DATE are not small details.

 

Yeah, I definitely hope it's all talk. He's a bit of a bizarre one, so it could be.

Personally I can't see the logic in it. The only effect I think it has is perhaps creating uncertainity of how invested and motivated he is for the fight, but once (if) the fight gets announced it should be quickly forgotten.

But I can't see it as good promotion for the biggest fight of your career to look like you're low on motivation and just isn't that very keen on it. Maybe in his mind it, though, who knows. Or he just wants to lay the ground work for excuses if he loses. Frankly, that's how it sounds to me.

 

Let's see if these lines come from Fury if he loses:

"I didn't prepare right, wasn't in shape. It's as I said in March, that I was drinking and wasn't training. And everyone could see how out of shape I was in that video where I had a dip in freezing water."

I'm pretty sure they're going to come from his fans (if he loses, maybe even if he wins).

 

Location and date are the hardest details with the world situation, they have to finalize that stuff late as possible.

If they relied on a live gate this fight could not be penned in for this summer...

A big check from someone to host will allow it to happen though.

Assume mid July date at the latest before they delay.

8-12 weeks prior to the fight date to announce.

That means the Fight will be announced late March at the very earliest...If nothing comes by the end of April we don't have a fight.

Even if the fight gets delayed, I think they've bought time from the commissions to allow them to run an undisputed fight for the end of the year even next year as long as AJ doesn't lose in the meantime.

If they have to sacrifice too much or run too much business risk it isn't happening.

Having to cancel this fight post announcement would do more damage than delaying it.

You have to concede that Fury's inflated management team throws lots of hoops to jump through.

As far as I see it if this pandemic didn't hit...this fight wouldn't be happening anyway, it's a total opportunity of the moment fight. We'd have had another Wilder rematch.
