ESPN aired some classic fights like the Ali / Frazier trilogy and Hagler / Hearns. The best part for me was seeing young people watch those fights and make comments like “Damn those guys went at it!” I loved seeing how impressive those fights were to a younger generation. I loved hearing the names like Hagler talked about again. One of my favorites. His passing really got to me. The definition of Champion.
Gone way too soon. Thought Marvin would be around for a long time to come, this will take some time to sink in. R.I.P. to one of the greatest of all time.
What sad unexpected news. Like quite a few posters here, I grew up watching boxing in the 1980s. It was a star studded decade, with unique high profile characters and legends/future legends aplenty. With so many charismatic quality world class individuals around, Marvelous Marvin Hagler still managed to stand alongside the best of the decade simply by being such a dominant but still very relatable Champion. RIP. champ.
I'm absolutely gutted over this. Another part of my youth gone. I've been following Marvin since 77 when I was 12 yrs old. An instant favorite and always will be. Was hoping to meet him at the HOF once the China virus was gone. Was also looking forward to the long long overdue autobiography which I believe was due out end of next yr. What a book that would have been!
No. I was referring to your manner of posting. You give off a very youthful vibe (no offense intended).
