From a finito lopez fan.. he passed him years ago, and beat estrada tonite. Finito was never a 4 division world champion.
He was the man in all those 4 divisions. This is comparable to being a flyweight champ and bantamweight champ. In history, only Jim Barry, Harada, Donaire and Chocolatito comes to mind. You have seen many dual LW/WW, WW/MW, MW/LHW champions but the list of Bantam/Fly is so few.
Roman Gonzalez stayed undefeated at 105, Ricardo Lopez suffered the Fatal Draw at 105, but he is still the GOAT at 105lbs because he immediately avenged the DRAW & had a long 21 title defense run at 105. At 105lbs crown goes to Ricardo Lopez P4P Roman Gonzalez has to be ranked higher he fought as low as 103lbs same as Finito, but took more risks, gave the fans more fights. Ricardo Lopez was more reluctant... If Ricardo Lopez accepted the 11-0-0-0 Manny Pacquiao challenge in 1996 it would have altered boxing history in big ways, instead Finito focused on WBC title defenses, he also didn't pursue the WBA Porpaion fight, which created an Ottke/Calzaghe cold-peace in 105 until 19-0-0-0 Rosendo Alvarez came and wrecked everybody, starting by decisioning WBA champion 35-0-0-0 Chana Porpoin & then stopping his brother 16-0-0-0 Song Porpoin before soiling Ricardo Lopez 47-0-0-0 record with the big D.
Great breakdown. I think Finito would’ve T/KO’d a young Pacquiao. Pacquiao was very crude and far from fully developed.
An ATG or a great champion, should always take on the young Lions. Ricardo Lopez was the obvious favorite and Pacman would have went up in weight anyways to become a multi-division champion, maybe in the same pattern but he was destined for Greatness...hence challenging Ricardo Lopez and everyone else afterwards... Below are good examples of good outcomes for the ATG wo fought the young up and comer Salvador Sanchez beating 13-0-0 Azumah Nelson Floyd Mayweather beating 22years old Canelo Felix Trinidad beating 22years old Fernando Vargas
Broner is a four division champion. It means nothing. They are unicorn belts for people who can’t clean out a division.
The real question now is just where does Roman Gonzalez rate in all of history? By the time he was KO'd by Rungvisai (after back-to-back wars), he was already an ATG. A four-weight champ. Since an unlikely comeback he's destroyed one of the champions and just gave as good as he got against the #1, against a man younger and better suited to 115 lbs. Considering his style of fighting, his dimensions, it's incredible stuff.
