This is a given. 100% classic. It didn’t get much better, if at all, with Hagler, Hearns, Sugar Ray and Duran. I get goosebumps watching Hearns and Marv slug it out every time. Hagler vs Mugabi is (I think) a forgotten fight to most and this round showed what a chin can withstand. Thanks for the clip!

I watched the Mugabi fight on tv and remember the interview with Hagler after the fight. He basically said he was thinking of retiring after this fight and you could see and hear in his tone that that remark was prompted from how tough the fight was....he took shots from one of the hardest punchers ever.

You are absolutely correct,,seeing how much punishment Hagler absorbed amped up Leonards courage to want a fight. He certainly had slipped some

The Marvelous man dished out some high level punishment against Mugabe but he took a LOT in return. That fight took a toll on Hagler. He was hit with so many solid shots, I have no idea how he was able to continue pressing the action. Hagler was never knocked down or out in his career. Best MW ever in my opinion.

I’ve watched that fight several times recently and saw it and it happened. Mugabe had serious power and could take a shot. After watching the fight, I’m not sure any modern MWs would be able to hang with Mugabe. He earned that Beast nickname for sure. Hagler, even the slightly faded version who fought Mugabe would destroy any modern MW. He moved well, had a great inside outside arsenal of punches and was tough as nails. So sad to hear of his passing. He was a true champion.
