Hagler v Minter was the first bout I ever saw, I wa 4 years old and it not only introduced me to boxing but it was also my first introduction to racism because of the now infamous iconic images of Brit fans trowing bottles at Hagler after he won that fight because they were worked at by Minter`s comments where he stated that no black guy would take his title, kind of ironic both fighters died 6 months apart as that fight was the start of Hagler`s amazing title reign, RIP.
That is a beautiful video - an apt tribute. It's strange that I just heard of the basketball player you mentioned, a few nights ago for the first time, then you mentioned him in this video. Father of Alexandra Stevenson.
Hagler Tszyu Duran JCC Sr. Tyson (Michael) MAB Super Joe Loma/Usyk All hold the distinction of being my favourite fighter at one time. Hagler was the first and I consider him Godly with a capital G
Rocky is terrible honestly, all of them... And so is Creed..**** "boxing"/choreography, cringeworthy acting and a plot a 12 year old could write with more nuance
Yet they made millions & millions. Most of the public know of them worldwide. Lots of fighters and boxing trade quotes them at times. Can I ask if there are any boxing movies you do like?. Genuinely interested.
No you can't ask. And what so they made loads of money and it's well known.. and therefore its good movie? ...a movie can be successful and still a **** film.. My issues with its terrible choreography, cringeworthy acting and dumb plot still stand
When I was little my pops had an old military duffle bag filled with old military clothes. I would hang it up in from the garage rafters and pretend I was Hagler. Punched the hell outta that bag, until I caught my middle knuckle on a belt buckle. Great memories of my youth and a great fighter. One of my all time favorite fighters.
Okie dokie. You don't want to mention a boxing movie you do consider a good one???. That's fine. You may have some merit on the choreography as most were years ago. But the "dumb" plot and "bad" acting I think most will disagree with. They were what they were and people liked them. Are you sure you don't want to offer up a boxing movie that meets your criteria? Or any movie even?.
The first Rocky film won an Academy award for best picture. Rocky still stands the test of time and is a "Marvelous" movie.
