Was Willie Pep vs Sandy Saddler 2 ever recorded? And if so where could I see it?

I´ve seen threads of people talking about the fight and describing certain things from the fight, but i can´t find the fight anywhere. Does it even exist, and if so where could I see it/acquire it?

Film doesn’t exist. But I’m fairly certain it was filmed.

This fight was definitely on TV from what I read... Shouldn’t they have archived the broadcast or something?

I’m always puzzled at how many fights are missing from that early television era.

People say it was filmed. It’s never emerged.

A prolific and beloved long time poster on ESB, Burt Bienstock, saw the fight on TV. He no longer posts, but If you search under his posts, you'll find his impressions of the fight.

They gave the film to Pep.

Saddler made him a bet that if he stopped Pep two more times, Willie would give him the film.

Pep was so embarrassed after Sandy stopped him in their third go and made him quit in their fourth that he burned the film.

It was certainly broadcast live at the time, but as this was the 1940s and videotape didn't exist yet, it may well be that it was never recorded.

A film of this fight does exist. My dad purchased Willie Pep's car back in the sixties. There was a film reel in the tire well of the trunk. My dad had it stored in a closet until I took it to have put on a dvd. It was indeed the fight from Feb. 11,1949
I had contacted the boxing hall of fame and donated the the film to them. Hopefully they will release it for all to see.

For a long time in the 1950's, parts of this fight were the introduction to the Gillette Cavalcade of Sports Friday night fights. There had to be film at one point. Hopefully it will pop up again.

Could have sworn I've come across it on YouTube.

What's so perplexing to me is Sandy Sadler went 3-1 with 3 KOs against Pepp, and all anyone ever talks about is Pepp v Sadler 2.

This is a big reason I rarely drink the Kool aide from boxing historians, especially in pre film eras.

This would be no different than 50 years from now Wilder vs Fury 1 being the main talked about fight from their series.
