Give me your honest take - Why is AJ-Fury suddenly a 50-50 for many people?

About 1 year ago after Fury exposed Wilder, even Haye - who just said 2-3 days ago he sees AJ as favorite - stated shortly after the fight he doesnt see anything what AJ can do against Fury.

About 6 months ago Haye said he thinks AJ has a solid chance, but Fury would still be the favorite.

Now he says he thinks AJ wins because Fury is too overconfident.

Of course its not just Haye i want to mention here, but many guys in Boxing, especially Youtubers etc. who cover the sport for many years, believe suddenly its like a 50-50 fight or that AJ is even the slightly favorite.

    Why is that?

What is happen since March 2020?

Is AJs win over Pulev the only reason why many ppl changed their opinion?

To me it was a very good win, but AJ didnt show me there something ive never seen from him before. Pulev is an average puncher and stand upright like a candle, no movemnent in the upperbody at all, and 0 movement with his head, the guy is good to hit.

Just some thoughts after reading different papers and hearing Youtubers talking about the fight.

I dont want to put down anything AJ did, but it is very difficult for me to understand why so many ppl changed their opinion since 1 year ago...AJ didnt do anything to support this change.
If he had KOed Pulev in 2-3 rounds would have been a different thing, but in the middle rounds he seems to have slight stamina problems again after the explosion in Round 3 and needed time to take fresh air agan.
Many ppl thought his stamina problems were over since he lost the weight for Ruiz 2 and Pulev, not 246 lb (112kg) anymore, more like 238 lb (108kg), but it seems he still have those problems and need time to take fresh air after a sprint.

I dont know...its just my view today after spending time and listen to people and reading different articles.

I personally see it very close and think AJ definately is better in some departments like Fury (combination punches + punching speed), but i see no logical reason to see AJ suddenly even as favorite what many ppl seems to do now.

    Cheers

Have you seen this forum and other forums and youtube comment sections ????

This fights is clearly NOT 50/50 in the publics eyes. At least 70% percent of people favor Fury

Because Fury looked magnificent, whereas Joshua looked like a running fanny.

You're only as good as your last fight, and Wilder II was far more impressive than both Pulev and Ruiz II.

I would guess that Fury's inactivity is a consideration.

I also wonder if some of the more casuals are judging a book by its cover. AJ has the physique of a greek god and Fury is a blubbery bald goon.

Its' irrelevant. AJ will have more trouble adjusting to fighting a quick big man after fighting glorified midgets. Wallin & Wilder are big and fairly quick.

This. Many people overwhelmingly pick Fury over Joshua.

I on the otherhand think this fight will be a lot more competitive than people think. I don’t see Fury having an easy time with Joshua at all.

Joshua has a good check hook when he decides to use it, which could be a very good weapon against Fury. I also think it would be good for Joshua not to come in too heavy, since around 230-235 Joshua has good handspeed, better mobility, uses combinations more, and also tends to move his head a little, which are things he’ll need. Wilder made a huge blunder packing on weight against Fury for the rematch, since it only made him slower and an easier target against Fury.

If Joshua comes prepared he definitely has a good chance at beating Fury.

Fury's inactivity as mentioned above. But there are also a few things with Fury that matter... his chin being one of them. He's not got a great chin. And while Wilder is more devastating than AJ, he's not as relentless nor as accurate. Once AJ lands clean, he keeps coming at you and he's deadly accurate. So if AJ does hurt Fury, you can bet it's game over for Tyson because AJ will just keep on coming with combinations.

And also, Fury's strategy of coming forward could play against him, as David Haye mentioned recently. He's right. He can't physically bully AJ like he could with Wilder, and unlike Wilder...AJ is very comfortable on the back foot.

I must say that initially I was about 90% on Fury but now I'm about 60%.

Nothing to do with the recent **** talking from Fury about drinking as I do think he's in shape, I just think that AJ will definitely come as well prepared as he can.

Also a loss for AJ makes the second fight much less interesting and money talks so if close I think the judges will go for the cash cow AJ.

It's because there's a desire to hype up the fight. It's not that interesting if people admit it's a 70-30 or 80-20. They want to imagine that it's a potential war between two evenly matched men, both with an excellent chance to win and not a one-sided beatdown in the making.

It reminds me of the change in perspective just after Wilder 1 and just before Wilder 2. Immediately after Wilder 1, the consensus was that if Fury could outbox Wilder after 30 months out on a coke binge and morbidly obese; a muscle atrophied mere shell of the man who beat Wlad in Germany, then a fully fit and motivated Tyson Fury would destroy Wilder in a completely one-sided mismatch. But closer to the rematch, we heard people hyping it as a 50-50, saying that Wilder had somehow "improved" and that he had an excellent chance of KO'ing Fury. Paying too much attention to the hype machine is always a mistake.

Fury is going to do what he does after every round 1 against the Wlad/Wilder/AJ's.

Put his hand in the air take center of the ring stare into their soul and claim victory before the fight has even begun.

Look go and watch it, Wlad, Wilder 1 and 2. End of round 1 watch what Fury does.

Now go and watch Wallin at the end of round 1...see what he does differently & how Fury reacts differently?

Fury wins unless he gets caught with a devastating punch, which is less likely to happen as the fight goes on.

AJ is not as good as some people think.
