It's a 50-50 proposition. If White can avoid a Povetkin bomb and it goes the distance, he probably wins. If Povetkin stays patient or if Whyte gets careless, we will get the same result as before. Both men should be very motivated as the loser will be pretty much finished at the top level. I'm very much looking forward to this bout, probably more than it deserves.
Whyte. Undecided about method of victory as Whyte might choose to be cautious. It's not that Whyte is so great, I just think Povetkin is done. Povetkin of a few years ago would have won easily.
Povetkin is way past his best. Whyte was starting to boss the first fight. Povetkin had just prepared well and exploited the opening (he just missed the same punch in the previous round when both fighters pivoted in the pocket) Longer fight goes more it favors Whyte. The big question is did the KO of last fight - carry over to this fight. If it did - Povetkin can win. If Whyte is recovered both mentally and physically from it - I do think he will win the rematch. Povetkin looked very old in first fight.
Many questions to be answered this weekend. Can Povetkin at that point of his career defend his interim title in his first rematch ever and then put himself in line for another title fight to finish his career? Will a victory by Whyte put him back on high ratings? Is this the return of Aydamn? And what if the fight ends in a draw as one forum user voted in the poll? I've been going back and forth all months long for a prediction and now I think Povetkin will win again.
I’m backing Whyte by KO early 1-4 COVID really had Povetkin beat and don’t think he’ll be close to 100% come fight night
...to be clear, I meant betting. Just realized that could be read as simply buying the PPV where applicable (the UK) or subscribing to DAZN elsewhere for whomever already hasn't. Pov outright is paying 11/4, by TKO you can find 9/2 (at BetVictor). That's... something.
Michael Hunter's thoughts: "I think that it's going to be a repeat. It's going to be very similar to the first fight. Povetkin always gets to his man at some point and Dillian Whyte always gets hit at some point in all of his fights, so I think it's going to be a very similar outcome," Whyte said to Sky Sports. "It could go either way, but I just think the experience [of Povetkin] is going to outweigh Whyte's youth and skills." "I think I have a better chin than Dillian Whyte for sure and I think I have a better eye. I really don't get caught too flush and I see it. I don't think that Dillian Whyte, when he got hit, he did not see that punch. That's what is a little bit different with me. It's very hard to hit me with punches that I don't see. I think the same thing could happen. He could get knocked out."
Last time Pov was 100% was when he was 36 y.o. He wasn't 100% even in fights he had won after this age. Now this covid and even without covid, he now is also older. Pov ofc might KO with liver punch, hooks or half hooks, land huge straight counters not only uppercuts. Low chances for Pov to win this one. Business does needs younger, better promoted guys to win and Whyte had been expected to stop Pov in their first fight or in worse case travel till cards and there .
It will be good if he will not be in shape like Glowacki had after this covid. This even had unusally low weight in weights for him ( Glowacki ).
Povetkin is old and had a hard case of covid 19, which does not help. He will be in worse shape than in the first fight. Whyte should stop him easy. Dont expect to much from this fight.
I see some newspapers are already eyeing up Whyte vs Wilder... Well if you guys think that Whyte will definitely win, fine, but look how much people wrote off Povetkin last time and look what happened. I understand why you bet on Whyte, but you'd be a fool not to treat this as a fight that's close to 50/50. Povetkin's intelligence and skill is still better than Whyte's, he simply has the physical disadvantage, not the skill disadvantage. Povetkin is a much smarter fighter, that's what won him the last fight. He unlocked Whyte's defence.
this yeah. common high and especially elite level amateur thing too, not alone in pro ranks. Povetkin really is old since he turned 37 y.o.
